Its obvious with respect to this movie that some of the movie industry corps/competitors have flooded it with bad ratings, to keep it beat down. The producers just didn't have the money moxy to retaliate with their own bought package reviews--Its not actually a ten, but closer to an honest 7--But since its been witch burned I went ahead and pumped up the rating--If you like action sci fi, this is a must see--I need ten lines to get a publish, so will say it was nice to see the movie give a nod to Moscow and toss in some Moscow-Russian pride, its not just USA folks who can kick alien butt.

It's definitely not an a list type movie, but the special effects are much better - cgi is getting cheap and better quickly - but they did a great job with the aliens and their actions. A few things were off, but generally great cgi, good acting of the stars although the story had some cliché type situations regarding internet start ups and evil businessmen and young teens as well a Russians. It was nice they picked Sweedes as the villain thought ;) Anyway, if you like science fiction it's worth a watch. The story could have easily been done as a 2 hour epic film with better back stories for the aliens, the stars and more of a world outlook rather then cloverfield type micro focus, but overall a good watch.

Don't get me wrong, the story line was very interesting and something you don't see with every apocalyptic movie. I went into this movie with high expectations set from watching the trailer, only to be somewhat disappointed halfway through.The monsters/aliens whatever you want to call them are extremely intimidating at first, but only in the beginning can you actually feel any sort of terror from these things. Once they are revealed behind their invisible shield, it's almost laughable to see such a bad cgi with the faces. You would think that a movie with such great quality when portraying death scenes would spend a little more time on the aliens themselves.The actors felt too fake, and I found myself scoffing at how many of the main 'group' we see die only because it was so expected.The movie was okay, but I'm not going to bring it down completely because of a few minor things that could of helped it in the long run.I would still watch this movie again, however, I would warn people that the 'hype' from the trailer is not at all like the movie.

Despite all the terrible reviews this wasn't a terrible movie. I actually quite liked it. Sure there are moments where you just have to go with it, (how did that girl end up in the bus when everyone else is in the river?) and the acting (expect for Hirshe) is not great but I've definitely seen worse.The premise of invisible energy absorbing aliens is pretty cool and the special effects are excellent -even if they're reminiscent of the beginning of War Of The Worlds, where Tom Cruise is running away (and through) everyone getting incinerated into ash. I also loved the fact that this took place in Moscow, super refreshing location, in fact that was the hook that got me to watch, I doubt I would have bothered if this had been another America saves the day in America movie. 5/24/14
