Synopsis
Second Chances is an American television series created and written by producers Bernard Lechowick and Lynn Marie Latham. The series premiered December 2, 1993, on CBS. Its cast includes Jennifer Lopez, Connie Sellecca, Megan Follows, Michelle Phillips, and Matt Salinger. The two-hour pilot episode was directed by Sharron Miller. The series last episode ran on February 10, 1994 as part of CBS's Crimetime After Primetime. This show marked a reunion, however short-lived, between actors Ronny Cox and Frances Lee McCain, who last worked together on the series Apple's Way in the mid-1970s. Produced a spin-off, Hotel Malibu.

Episode 9 : Miss Friendly Santa Rita

Miss Friendly Santa Rita 1981 Lara Peterson is guest judge at the present beauty pageant. 'Cook Insurance' sponsors the event the 7th year in a row, so George is a judge, too, while Jim Stinson is the third. To his amusement Lara flirts with George, and Stinson is busy making passes on Melinda. Mike proposes to Dianne, and a rivalry between Kevin and Richard seems certain to occur, but Kate is intensely focused on finding Emily who is alive, indeed.

Episode 5 : I Can't Get No Satisfaxion

Tests from the autopsy proves Bruce regularly abused cocaine, and Dianne looses hope of ever finding any of the vanished money. However George and Felicity admit that they have handled Bruce's insurance money unsufficiently, and they fire their accountant. The technical investigations proves that he was not killed by his secretary, Joanna, as her bullet hit nothing but the wall. After some comic setbacks the police succeeds in tracing the person who faxes death threats to Dianne.

Episode 4 : I Can't Get No Satisfaction

The 8 year old Brian teaches his mother Dianne, Kate and Melinda how to recover superficially deleted files, and Joanna is discovered as Bruce's lover. When her registrated gun is found she spitefully confesses the murder. On her father Sal's initiative Melinda starts dating Toly, and Kevin is despaired. Kevin sees faxes with death threats to Dianne and makes the police give her protection.

It was nominated for an "Outstanding Children's Program" Emmy in 2005. Zoey 101 was the most expensive production ever for Nickelodeon series, as it was shot completely on location in Malibu. It was also Nickelodeon's best performance for a series premiere in almost eight years. Despite this, many critics have made negative comments about the show, its setting, and its characters.
