I must say this- This is the first time I stopped watching an action sequel just 50 min in. I really liked the first one, but this one was just awful.Let me tell you why: The story was boring, the action scenes were just like the first movie so nothing really to be excited for, no funny moments at all, and let's not forget the fact that THERE WAS NO FRANKENSTEIN !This movie was just filled with action scenes- whether they were pointless or just a copy from the first film. I didn't enjoy a moment from that movie, didn't either laugh or excited from what I've seen, and they replace some of most important cast members with boring cast members who took the ideas of the first film and told it like it's a brand new thing.
DEATH RACE 2That is not the right title to the movie. Death Race 2 is set before the original Death Race, so this be called something different... Death Race Zero or Death Race: The Beginning would have been clearer. The movie is about Frankenstein, the fan favourite driver from the first movie that Jason Statham has to take over from due to an untimely death. This movie is like an origins movie. It explains why Frankenstein was in prison in the first place, why he wears the mask and also explains how the sport, Death Race, was created. This is a very good movie considering it is a prequel. I would go as far as to say this is as good as the original movie. It is very rare that you get a sequel or prequel to be as good or better. The action was really good in this. It is a violent movie with plenty of fight scenes and gruesome deaths. There is some negative things about this though... the fight scenes were well choreographed, but was badly shot. In a lot of the fight scenes, you can clearly see that they are not hitting each other. They are punching miles away from their opponent. I thought this could have been done a lot better. The driving and the cars are easily as good as the first film. I loved this element to the movie. It was all well done. This movie has a couple of faces from the first movie, but also has some new famous faces too. The movie stars Luke Goss as Carl Lucas. I have seen Luke in a couple of films now, and I have to say that he is a really good actor. Who would have thought it? That terrible singer from that rubbish boy band from the 80's can actually act! Other cast members are Lauren Cohan, Sean Bean, Ving Rhames and Danny Trejo. The acting was really good throughout. I can't fault anyone on this.Death Race 2 was a lot of fun and deserved more publicity. I feel that this should have done better. I will be watching both of these movies again in the future. They are movies that you can watch with a load of friends and really enjoy them.I really hope they don't make any more though. I don't want too much of a good thing as I think it will ruin it.I will give this film 7 out of 10."You kill me, I kill you."For more reviews, please like my Facebook page:https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ordinary-Person-Movie- Reviews/456572047728204?ref=hl
Bad Case of Sequelitis (and Mistitled Too) WHAT SUCKED ABOUT THIS MOVIE1) Title. When you have a number after a title, that usually means "sequel", not "prequel". Better titles could've been "Death Race: The Beginning" or "Death Race: Birth of Frankenstein".2) Lead character. Another criminal with a heart of gold, only this one has somehow managed to not only make a career out of it (being a criminal, not a hero), but earn the trust of a crime boss (Sean Bean doing a ridiculous accent of some kind). Right.3) Plot. If you have a movie about vehicular carnage, give us some ASAP, do not wait for an hour to finally get to it, okay?4) Logicality of plot. I know in action movies real-world facts have no place there; if you want a revolver to fire 7 bullets without reloading, then it can. But when you have a woman hanging on to a speeding car wrenching a Minigun—-which weighs over 200 pounds—-out of its mount, pointing it backwards and firing it without being knocked off the car, that stretches plausibility past the breaking point for me.5) There will be another sequel / prequel. What will it be about?WHAT WAS GOOD ABOUT THIS MOVIE(Crickets chirping) RECOMMENDATIONSWatch any other "Death Race" movie, your time will be much better spent. I personally prefer "Death Race" over "Death Race 2000", but that's just me.
First of all, I cant believe people rated this at an average of 5.7. I think it has more to do with the fluff than the quality of the movie.Death race was OK, but this one just made me cry. It starts with some linguistic errors in the opening line (combing words as 'In the near future' and 'now'). Normally I can get over that, but it really set the table for the rest of the film. Scenes that don't have any real importance to the story are filmed in slow motion, while others, that have more significance for the film are too brief. The actors were not really to blame. there are some decent actors (not great), but the director and the writers should really think about a different line of work. To sum up: it has potential, but this one is a swing and a miss.I don't want to get personal, but shame on the highest rated review here and shame on the people who found it useful...
