Ren Osugi, born Takashi Osugi, was a Japanese actor. For his work on Cure, Hana-bi, and other films, Osugi received the Best Supporting Actor award at the 1999 Yokohama Film Festival. He often worked alongside Takeshi Kitano and Susumu Terajima

Tatsuo introduced her to Dr. Jiro Makabe earlier at the hospital. Etsuko has a feeling of unease about her husband working with Dr. Jiro Makabe. One day, Etsuko hears Dr. Jiro Makabe state "I came to Earth to invade."
