A viral outbreak turns those who are infected into the walking dead. Soon, the undead are contained, being kept in a maximum security prison. However, those who contained the undead are also trapped in this zombie-infested prison. Their only hope is to escape; but once you're inside this prison, there's really no way of getting out safely.

Dead Men Walking is a zombie movie that you wouldn't expect to be set in a prison but thats what makes this movie very scary and terrifying because being in a prison full of the flesh eating undead is terrifying and that there's no escape while being trapped in prison cells and thousands of the undead thats whats really horrifying because you are trapped and there's no way out with having to worry about carrying the virus out of the maximum security prison into the clean world and with that virus out of the infected prison can infect the whole world. The movie was really just plain gory with tons of zombies feasting on human flesh. The cast for the movie was a great cast for the film especially for the cast of Samantha Beckett played by Bay Bruner who is trying to solve this outbreak pandemic. I gave this movie a 10 out of 10 because its a blood bath of a zombie movie and its a great movie i suggest this movie to all zombie movie lovers.
Where to begin? From seeing production crew in several shots, to the high school nerd looking prison staff...no part of this movie was believable. Security guard costumes for prison staff, "guards" with live ammo on the tiers, the doctor's reaction to a sudden death, I could go on... My favorite was the sniper's rifle at the end. A totally plastic 6 dollar (seriously, I bought my son one) Sig 556 knock off. Oh, yeah. The helicopter at the end. I would bet money it just happen to be flying over while a camera was out. The acting was horrible...all the acting. There were at least 3 "important" scenes that were voiced over post production. It looked like an old Chinese kung-fu flick. The writing isn't even worth mentioning. The only outstanding frame was breast on the convicts "visitor". Coudos to her surgeon! I did like that the kids were not spared getting bit, eaten and shot. I've been in prison lots, and I would rather participate in a good 'ol fashion riot than sit through this again. Beware. Even if you want a B-zombie movie. This was too bad.
Dead Men Walking seems like an ideal title for an undead flick... OK its pretty bad actually, filmed in GREEN-O-VISION, or maybe with expired Kodachrome film. Turn your color down and it bumps it up a star. While it doesn't help the acting or all the water balloon splattering sound effects, I guess you could turn the sound down also, and overdub your own sound. Sound of Music might go well with it. This could make a pretty good undead musical.(Hey don't steal my idea.)The bottom line is, if all the annoying slow motion & vomiting don't get to you, if your reallllly bored and there's nothing but infomercials on...this will pass the time.
I am a zombie fan. I have seen dozens of zombie movies, maybe more. This one is nicely self- consistent. Decent story. Not-bad acting. FX aren't bad.Only two significant comments. It's too dark. the movie takes place in a prison. I used to be a police officer. Every prison I ever saw was brightly lit. the guards want to be able to see what the prisoners are doing. the darkness of this movie destroyed its verisimilitude and made it much less pleasurable to watch.The other serious incongruity is the woman whose large, bare breasts pop on and off the screen. Who is she and why is she hanging around the prison with no shirt on? I like bare breasts as much as the next guy, assuming the next guy isn't Ted Haggard, but they seem out of place in a prison movie, a zombie movie or in this case, a prison-zombie movie.
