DRUGLAWED is the explosive documentary exposing how New Zealand has been co-opted by the US into fighting the failed War On Drugs. Filmed in six countries over four years, this is the documentary that finally clears the smoke around the international prohibition of cannabis. Over the last 100 years the US government has forced its drug control policies on almost every country on earth. 40 years since Richard Nixon declared the War On Drugs in 1972, 22 million Americans have been arrested for marijuana. Only one country in the world has higher arrest and conviction rates: New Zealand. DRUGLAWED examines how New Zealand fell in lockstep with US policies, and shows how smaller countries can break out.

What a great documentary! I, and the friends who watched it with me, were blown away by how tight and interesting the documentary was. Great editing, great music and a well told narrative about the vested corrupt interests that have led our country and our justice system astray. We learned a lot about the early history of cannabis in New Zealand and how it was widely used and respected. What a shame that a few corrupt individuals in the United States made the whole world go down a very unproductive path. You may have heard parts of this story before, but the documentary pulls together all of the disparate pieces into one story. You owe it to yourself to get a copy of this DVD and share this with your family and friends. You won't be disappointed.

This movie blew me away, and if the guys that made it are stoners it disproves all the stupid allegations that prohibitionists make about pot making you slow and stupid. Clearly not the case here, every angle gets covered here, and prohibition gets smoked! The medical segment was of particular interest to me as the survivor of a motorbike accident who now relies on cannabis for pain relief. How the hell can oxycontin be legal for me to take in huge doses but a herb that has 4,500 years of proved safe medical efficacy is banned. That sack of shhhhhh PETER DUNNE - what a DOOSH! NZ HAS GOT TO GET RID OF DUNNE! Wake up, New Zealand! 1.legalize cannabis 2.tar and feather Peter Dunne in the streets of Wellington.

There might be a spoiler alert in here somewhere...Druglawed is one of the best documentaries of any topic to be made in New Zealand for at least a decade. The complexity and wide reach of the drug war has never been so clearly defined in such a captivating way. Speaking from personal experience as more of a victim of the law rather than the drug, I can state categorically that what's being done in the name of enforcing outdated, racist, anti-competitive and cruel legislation, is costing society more than this drug ever could hope to, no matter how misused it might be. This is not just a film to enjoy, but one to radically inform and motivate people to support common sense drug policy, not tyranny, cruelty and oppression towards peaceful people who are not criminals by nature, only by name."I've never seen people on pot get in a fight because it is f**king impossible" - Bill Hicks

Druglawed is the most comprehensive and up to date documentary investigating New Zealand's role and history regarding cannabis prohibition and the USA's global war on drugs.Extremely well produced and skilfully edited, this movie clearly and comprehensively covers the entire NZ cannabis story, starting with the cannabis based medicines of Mother Mary Joseph (Suzanne Aubert) all the way through the lies and deceit that initiated prohibition, up to the current day. This movies makes it very clear that drug prohibition is an absolute failure as a policy. Yet, prohibition continues to destroy lives for no good reason.Filmed over a period of more than four years, edited together from hundreds of hours of interviews and law reform protests, this documentary illuminates the activist and law reformer side of this struggle, a side of the story that the NZ news media constantly fails to report. However, don't be mistaken into thinking this is simply a documentary made by activists, for activists. Druglawed should be viewed by absolutely everyone in order to fully comprehend the senseless waste of continuing with the failed war on drugs.Druglawed is one of the best documentaries I have viewed on this subject ever, easily as good as other drug war documentaries I have viewed from elsewhere in the world.Druglawed is the best full length New Zealand documentary you will see in 2015.
