The first plot is really good. Radhika Apte is a genuine actress. She did very well in her role. The second part, it doesn't make any sense. What is the actual message here? The third part, very weak plot but the actress did her job superbly. The 4th plot, I always thought Karan Johar make meaningless movies but here he opened new side of his direction level.
Don't waste your time watching this. it is just an air balloon with "lust" written over it. government should also adopt a policy to rate movie title to save our youngsters falling into such traps. Maybe out of curiousity some teenager would watch a movie. director has not done justice to any of the stories. The movie makers don't even want to get involved in the subject. This is what happens when big corporates with a huge corporate bureaucracy make something.
Watched it for all the big name directors associated with it and the fact that it was on netflix but was a total waste of time.. my conclusion after having wasted my time was that these big name directors cant make short films.. they cant conclude the story in half n hour since they are used to the 3 hour bollywood film duration with 5 performances and one item song. Serious cinema with short stories is not their thing.
4 stories of flawed Indian women trying to live their life to the fullest in the patriarchal society that never let them be. Anurag kashyap's segment was pretty good with an amazing performance from Radhike Apte who also wrote it. It was a hilarious segment with her character who's always ranting one thing and doing the opposite to make things complicated, then there's the teacher student relationship in the mix. Zoya Akthar's segment captured the micro expressions of Bhumi Pednekar to showcase the exploitation of the lower class servants, something that has been used many times in Indian cinema but still the performance and the direction makes it fresh. Dibakar Banarjee's segment is my favourite among the lot which portrays the complex relationships amid a failing but not breaking marriage and the friendship that gets in the line. Karan Johar made his segment breaking his own methods used for years and making fun of his old films to show how stupid and oppressive the ideal families shown in his old films are really.
