I guess there is no plot spoiler. Jesus dies in the end. The script attempted to be historical as opposed to religious, taking a smidgeon more than a dramatic license. The attention to detail of the period and costuming seemed superb. I enjoyed the fact they did the Last Supper correctly, minus table and chairs. The film grossly downplayed the divinity of Jesus, turning this into another film about the Bible that is more secular than following the script. Three members of the supporting cast were excellent as expected: Kelsey Grammer briefly as King Herod; John Rhys-Davies as Annas and Rufus Sewell as Caiaphas.Haaz Sleiman played a befuddled Jesus who had to be convinced of his divinity. His speech was slow, easy and broken, as I felt he was the guy from which I get my Slurpee. Many characters looked like they were from the region with sun aged skin. The film was about the life of Jesus and only a small part dealt with his killing, a title O'Reilly seems to be stuck on for better or worse. He attempted to make the film seem historical, and for that he should have hung closer to the Gospel of Luke, in my opinion. He omitted the courtyard disturbance right before his arrest, which many historians consider significant, while he included the "slaughter of the innocents" an event historians doubt. The role of Judas was confusing. Salome was interesting. This is a good film about Jesus, if you can get past a Bart Ehrman Jesus. Not as bad as the recent "Noah" or "Exodus..."
Possible spoiler* I can't believe how awful this movie is. I really wanted to like it but it's so biblically inaccurate. Jesus knew who he was from the beginning yet this movie portrays him as a commoner that eventually discovers he is the messiah. Rubbish. It doesn't show him teaching in the temple as a boy like he did. The scene with Simon fishing is wrong. In the bible he tells him to cast his net on the other side of the boat after he has no success. The net immediately becomes so full that it overwhelms the boat. They portray Jesus as a simple prophet instead of the son of God. There's countless inaccuracies. I'm disgusted.
Spoiler alert: This is a poorly done movie about the Greatest Story on Earth. From the beginning of this movie it is inaccurate both by history as written by Ciafis and by the Bible. This is obviously a Hollywood version done by ignoramuses who either cannot read or didn't read the Bible story of Jesus. The actor who portrayed Jesus was a poor choice and his lines were poorly done. Although his lines were probably part of the farce the movie Mogul put together. I am surprised that the actors who are easily identifiable did not protest the poor structure and story line as presented. If your are planning to pay money to see this movie, save your money. If it is a free view I am sure you could find something more uplifting to watch.
Killing Jesus not only gave us a thrilling new look at a well-known story, but managed to fill in what the Gospels leave out. to fully understand the angst this man went through, it is useful to know what and where he came from. Jesus was more than God made man, he was an ordinary First Century Jewish peasant. A Tekton which means, in Greek, "One who works with his hands. to deny that crucial part of the story..... THAT would be blasphemy on a cataclysmic scale. i, much like Christ himself, couldn't give any less of a fig about offending the church. if the truth has to be offensive, so bloody be it! Forget about respecting the church. i would rather show the utmost respect for MY Lord and MY Savior. Not YOURS! MINE! as it was said in THE LEGEND OF ZORRO, "The LORD hates a liar." to deny our children the absolute truth of our LORD, is to deny it for ourselves. need i say more?
