If you think about it : unkind Fate rather had it in for Tutankhamun. Yes, he was adored as a living god and yes, he lived amidst unimaginable opulence ; but at the same time he lived through ferociously unhinged and hate-filled times, he lost many of his nearest and dearest and he died very young, possibly in great agony. There even exists a sporting chance someone murdered him. As if all this wasn't awful enough, his rest was disturbed and his grave was opened by people he would doubtlessly have considered helpers of the Evil One.This seems more than enough for one unlucky person, but no, things get worse : ever since the twentieth century he has turned into a magnet for purple prose and overwrought fantasies. Witness this series, which clearly belongs in the historical melodrama class, subcategory "intrigue-riddled court". The series suffers from two serious flaws : 1) it has a melodramatic plot, weak dialogue and a feeble screenplay and 2) it does not succeed in creating characters whose belief system, world view and religion are deeply, radically different from ours. It is, of course, the last flaw which torpedoes the whole enterprise beyond any hope of rescue : the viewers never forget that they are watching people from, say, 2014 or 2015 who dressed up in antique garments. One would not be surprised to see a high priest toting a smartphone or reading the Miami Herald. As a result I can't really recommend the series, although most of the actors do their best to rise above the mediocre material. And no, the series isn't "so bad that it becomes good" : it is too annoying and boring for that.

Do you have jobless black actors? Are they frustrated that their ethnic group has no history? Well, don't worry! You can just fabricate some historical phantasmagoria about black Mitanni people, Tut's black wife, and a fictitious black general, and slap it together for the average North American audience. The average American just doesn't know, where Mitanni was, but he is well informed that every great historical figure born in Africa was black. Even Hannibal was black, after all. They just aired it on the History Channel! And why Tut wasn't portrayed as a black pharaoh, after all?!This movie is an insult to the intelligence of every historian. It was made by businessmen, who know nothing about ancient history and hence they don't care about any facts. The most important thing is, if they get enough money for advertisement breaks.

I really was looking forward to this, ancient Egypt great. I was hoping, maybe, with lots and lots of luck it would/could be at least half as good as "Rome",UNFORTUNATELY" it was not even a fraction as good. Especially the acting was terribly "Real-life-UNLIKE", not convincing at all. The story, predictable, weak, boring. I also hated the soundtrack. Sounded like it came from some ready-made backing sound DVD, that was playing all the time. All in all a big disappointment especially as it was obviously quite an expensive production. As my review hat up to now not enough lines, let me repeat it. I really was looking forward to this, ancient Egypt great. I will give this series a 9, because I found the casting, the acting, costuming, pacing, sets, and storyline to be extremely well done! This is one of the best T.V series about a historical figure, or based on one that I have seen in a long time! Even though "Tut" keeps your creative juices flowing and entertains You it may not be the most accurate information or take on Ancient Egyptians, or King Tut's life. I feel the writers may have made a lot of this up for ratings, because little was really known about this boy king as the called Tut. I'm sorry, but I have to nitpick here. Ancient Egyptians had dark skin, they were not white People or Mexican People made to look darker than they truly are, other than that I was appalled by the graphic sex scenes, so this is possibly not a movie for children or adults that do not like to see that kind of content.
