Firstly, I'd like to thank all those who didn't get offended by the skepticism showed in this movie because with people, you don't know what happens. Especially, in a country like India where people are so sensitive toward everything. Secondly, this movie is the pinnacle of sensibility. It shows how exactly people are manipulated in the name of God and how much they fear Him instead of loving Him. A middle class businessman and his battle against all those who have manipulated religion and its traditions and cultures according to their own will and above all God. The casting is perfect. Paresh Rawal proved it once again that there's no role in this entire world that cannot be played by him. Akshay Kumar looks perfect as Lord Krishna. I don't think anybody else could've played Krishna better. His portrayal of a fraud 'saadhu' is spot on. In conclusion, Bollywood needs more movies like OMG instead of the crap that we see these days. delivery and the aura that he creates is commendable. When you look at the limited number of good Hindi movies produced in 2012, this one stands out.. a good story line..Very good acting.. Akshay Kumar was nominated for some awards as a Supporting Actor.. But Paresh Rawal is the main stay of the movie and he has done excellent acting.. There are few in the industry, who could have performed in a more authentic way..He is one of those actors who fits into any character with ease and finesse..Only..the length of the movie is a bit longthe movie does not give credit to its inspirational source 2001 English movie " The Man Who Sued God " with Billy Connlly and Judy Davis..
This film is the final word on the debate that whether GOD is to blame on all the calamities that befall all human beings.Though we humans have never proved the "scientific" existence of a higher being capable of manipulating and creating life, we still spend money on religious institutions, pilgrimages, holy relics etc., etc.The film deals with a low-frequency earthquake that demolishes the shop belonging to Mr. Kanji Lalji Mehta (Paresh Rawal) who is Gujrati descent and also most importantly and atheist.Next day at the insurance office, Kanji and his neighbor Mahadev learn that the disaster claim does not cover any damage caused by natural calamities classified under "Act of God". Running out of options, Kanji decides to file a lawsuit against God. What happens next is hilarious. Hanif Qureshi (Om Puri), a poor Muslim lawyer. Qureshi, a disabled man, helps filing the case as Kanji decides to fight on his own. Legal notices are sent to the insurance company, as well as to religious priests, Siddheshwar Maharaj (Govind Namdeo), Gopi Maiyya (Poonam Jhawer) and their group's founder, Leeladhar Swamy (Mithun Chakraborthy) summoning them to the court as representatives of God on earth. Finally we see Kanji who ends up in front of a group of fundamentalists who try to kill him but he is saved by Krishna Vasudev Yadav (Akshay Kumar) who plays the role of GOD in this film.Eventually we see Krishna Vasudev Yadav giving advice to Kanji in that all of mankind's problems have a solution. That solution is the Bhagwat Gita, The Holy Bible and the Holy Qur'an. Krishna insists Kanji go over these books.Find out what happens next when you watch this film with family, friends or by yourself. If you have hi-speed internet you can watch it Online. Or rent the DVD or go to the Cinema when the price is just about right for you. There is a topic raised by Mr. P. Rawal in that a lot of milk, oil and food is wasted on Hindu ceremonies, which could have been used to feed the poor. I STRONGLY AGREE WITH MR. RAWAL. I also have a slight problem as to the casting of Akshaye Bhatia(or Akshaye Kumar) as the divine Lord Krishna. Hritik Roshan would have better suited in the role. Govind Namdeo is AWESOME as well as my 80's action hero Mithun Chakraborty. There is a good song "Go Govinda" starring Prabhu Deva, a dancer whom I respect. If you feel like buying the film, do so. It would be wise to wait a year because as you know new films are coming out at such a rate that the old ones will be sold at half-price and that's when you buy them.
This movie is being subdued from viewers I feel, It is a fantastic movie based on true facts on how many people in the name of saadu's and gurus are looting the country. It is also true that it follows shankaracharya's philosophy of "aaham brahmasmi"-God is with in me,doing good to others shows your godly character. Always listen to your conscience..Instead of pouring in your currency onto a religious Guru/Temple adopt a poor kid and help Him/Her grow into a better person than what they could have without you..! Its high time...,better late than than never.. Stop wasting Time and Money on these fake gurus and sadhus and lets work for the betterment of our statesmen, nation and the mankind as a whole! Sarvojana sukinoobhav!!!
