Short story, an utter disappointment. Long story, I was expecting a film about a group of obviously innocent lads caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, to be mistaken for enemy Taliban fighters. We start with them talking about going to Pakistan about wedding plans, and going to Afghanistan to "help". No mention of how 9-11 has kicked everything off in the country and war is coming, indicating that this is probably a VERY stupid idea at best, and aiding and abetting the enemy at worst. The lads hang around with a group of armed men, obviously not charity workers, who "tragically" (according to the way it is shown) get killed by air strikes and are all captured.I was nonplussed, these guys are obviously not giving a straight story. And then they get captured and interrogated. They aren't treated very kindly, but nothing serious. Certainly no back-rubs and massages, but not the torture I was expecting. All that happens now is they're kept in slightly uncomfortable conditions and get interrogated a bit more before being released. That's it. No brutal beatings, electroshocks, not even a friggin water-boarding! A guard even kills a spider to protect one of the prisoners! The fact that two of the lads admitted to going to jihad camps and learning to handle explosives and rifles shows the audacity of the stupid left wing filmmakers here. The last one refused to take a lie test, which shows he is clearly hiding something. And then that virtually nothing else happens to them, well I cannot express my opinions adequately. For those talking "evidence", the lads actions prove in spades their guilt. And they were not enemy combatants so it is hardly as if their rights were infringed by anything other than their own stupidity and further guilt. The only highlight of the entire wasteful film was the wonderful Riz Ahmed doing a rap number in his cage to the amusement of a guard, but that was because he was Riz Ahmed, not because of the absent quality of this pathetic film.

Although some have not heard of the Tipton Three, they are real. In fact, one of them, Shafiq Rasul should be familiar to all who were really in Guantanamo. He is the one who sued George Bush and won in Rasul vs Bush the right of the captives at Guantanamo to challenge their captivity in US courts. The movie itself has very good production values. At times, the reenactment gives the impression we are seeing a collection of clips filmed in real time and on site. Oh and by the way, of the 775 prisoners taken to Gitmo, 420 were released without charge.

yesterday i purchased the DVD and watched the documentary. It was schocking to see what happened to 3 young men who just made a big mistake in their life by going to afghanistan in the days of newly commenced bombing by the u.s and allies. The price they had to pay was far huge than the decision they made. After being captured by the northern alliance , they were handed over to u.s troops who then took them to their camp x.ray in Guantanamo bay. I really first time saw the techniques of torture and humiliation used by the Americans, what we know about them is the leaders of the free and democratic world. Those men were kept in animal like cages, made hounded by the dogs, every time being beaten and abused by other means. They were punished for those crimes which they didn't committed. The blame goes to the leaders of alqaeda and taliban who use these young minds for their own motives and then desert them in the time of need. While the American administration also shows its disrespect for humanity, human rights , and international laws regarding non Americans and POWs. This is a must watch to understand that everywhere in our world we have got violation of human rights. U like it or not its up to you. When there is always oppression injustice and torture in the world there is seeking of retribution. Imagine if you are put in such inhumane conditions , you are abused every moment of your life , even you are deprived of your own self respect what the out come of it will be. I wonder whether these men are having nightmares all the times they go to sleep , every where they go people try to humiliate and reject them because of their prison experience they would definitely having trouble for starting and having a new life. Now it becomes a very easy opportunity for the extremists groups to brain wash the already disturbed minds of such individuals. i am also a Muslim and i know the psyche of myopic mad irresponsible mullahs but here the U.S gov was also adding fuel to the already volatile situation. The only necessary thing at this time is to eliminate injustice , corruption, hatred and prejudice from this world. For this purpose all of the people of peace loving world must work together. It is unfortunately written in the fate of man that it fights with each other. Muslims have killed Muslims too. They still on a killing spree of each other. West has fought world wars before war on terror. United states indiscriminately bombed Vietnam. There are horrific civil wars in Africa, black men brutally killed their own kind while they always blame and react white men of race-ism. These all Things happen here in our world but important thing is that by eliminating hatred and not violating basic human rights we can at least limit the amount of carnage among the people. i again say it that you must watch and try to understand this film, than it up to you whether you like and learn form it or not

... That's a saying that I got from a rap song. It could easily be a tag line for this movie. If you don't know what Guantanamo stands for and if you don't want to know that before you go see the movie, then stop right here ... although I don't consider it a spoiler myself, but here goes: Guantanamo stands for the Guantanamo Bay prison that is used by the Americans. The prisoners held there, are allegedly all terrorists. The Americans are pretty sure that they are. This is the story of four Pakistan friends, that live in the UK, but are on a trip to a wedding to Pakistan. Their motives for not going directly to the wedding are unclear (at least to me), so that the movie does have a strange touch at the beginning ... but that's nothing compared, to what is going to happen to them ...
