The drama itself was so awesome and brilliant!the only thing that audiences needed at the time was just one other season,a final season, not just 80 min which even wasn't semi-enough for patrick himself! just in order not to blow up your imagination of your favorite show!they destroyed a very sweet love, very lovely couple, because there was no time to figure their problems out! you easily can feel kevin's love to patrick..Russell tovey was a genius in acting indeed!! i wished it ended differently ..it was so heartbreaking for me...

I followed this HBO serial based around a group of mainly gay friends in San Francisco. The main character Patrick returns to his old haunts here and is looking for some sort of 'closure' on his past but instead everyone wants to carry on where they all left off.Now those that loved the series that have gone before will find 'more of the same' here and so love it. However, it also manages to bring most of the negative baggage from the two seasons which was sort of inevitable. That is also where it has its flaws. If you identify with the characters and the happenings it is much easier to get into this. I found it very watchable but not the best serialised gay themed drama ever and wanting on a few occasions – I did really enjoy the first season but thought the seconds so lack lustre that I only finished it out of some sort of loyalty. This though is better and so a fitting way to say a final goodbye.

Alright, the show was really nothing special. Everyone was freaking out over it because we finally got a gay show that didn't constantly shove the gay stereotypes down our throats (even though they are usually right?) but that really was all it had going. Honestly, I really hated most of the characters aside from Dom, Doris, and Richie. The protagonist was an idiot who kept making terrible choices. I honestly think the show must have had the worst team of writers for any HBO show that ever existed. Richie and Patrick were clearly right for each other, and it always felt incredibly far- fetched that a "goody two shoes," a "prude," someone who didn't like taking risks would have dumped Richie for Kevin. Sorry, but it just made no sense at all when taking into consideration Patrick's character.I really doubt a real-life person like him would have ever done that, and it really made me so incredibly angry when it happened. Honestly, don't expect anything special from the show or the movie. Pretty much nothing interesting happens, and the only reason anyone should ever watch it is because of the excellent acting and character development. I doubt a heterosexual person or someone who isn't even a fag hag to begin with would be particularly interested in this series. I only watched it because I liked that it felt like I was hanging out with them all. Unfortunately, though, most hangouts are not interesting enough for the big screen, and that was truly the downfall of this show. The writers of this show should have tried harder to make interesting events occur, and they pretty much just banked on the fact that the LGBT community will eat up anything with good acting that is targeted towards them. Most of the events felt far-fetched. Agustin's insanity didn't seem very realistic, and his "redemption" was even worse. The ending of this movie made me very happy, though so there is that. However, this movie that should have just been one 20-minute long episode was stretched out to compose a movie, and it really reflects. I didn't even have to really sit down and watch the movie the entire time. I was multi-tasking the whole time I watched it, and I didn't even miss anything. So, this is a really boring movie to top off a very, very, very boring series. I'm incredibly disappointed in HBO. I think they should have hired actual gay writers because this was just ridiculous. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because of Doris. That woman was awesome.

I just finished re-watching TV-Show, and with huge expectations prepared myself for Looking: The Movie. Yup, I can say it's amazing. Atmosphere and aesthetics of the show are visible, Andrew Haigh really is capable or capturing emotions of those characters in sublime way. This expression has been used a lots of times, but it really does feel like you're just watching real people, not just actors act.Acting is great, Jonathan Groff is wonderful here, although he wasn't among my favorite performers on the show, he really shines in the film. I do love the fact that he ended up with Richie, but scene with Kevin is probably my favorite from the film. It was really heartbreaking, and like their fight at end of Season 2, their conversation here is so real, vivid, authentic. The way Kevin kisses him for the last time was so hard to watch, it was really emotional and touching. As well as Richie coming back to the club, and kissing Patrick. It was breathtaking. My only complaint is that it doesn't focus on Dom at all, which is shame, because he's my favorite character and Murray Bartlett is perfect in the role, but here he doesn't have much to do. But, considering I love all these characters, it was really nice to see them together again, and when they all met up in the club at the beginning of the film, I literally couldn't but not smile all the time, to see them all again. Afterwards, as I said, it mostly focuses on Patrick, and Agustin and Eddie wedding, and it's nice to see things conclude like that.Ending almost made me cry. I really will miss these characters. I hope we get another special like this, but if we don't, this film feels like perfect closure to ultimate tale of friendship, that we had pleasure to watch and enjoy.
