I'm not connected or affiliated to this movie in any way so a completely unbiased review here. Didn't really know what to expect with it but aside from a feeling of a b-rated execution, the story had substance and merit with a decent somewhat predictable plot. The dialogue was decent, not great. The directing might have been the weakest part of the film by not getting the most from the scenes and some rough acting from some of the supporting cast but the mains were good. Overall it had some very solid morales and comes across pretty authentic in its story and the hardships of coming back from prison. If you can look past the B-rated execution, it's a solid movie that deserves props for telling the story right.
It would be alot better if the someone with more talent wrote the script, poor acting, I don't know what positive reviewers thought when they wrote their reviews.
Bad acting, bad script, don't quite understand other reviews: "Powerful", "made me cry", "excellent, one of the best movies"... Please, come on!!! either these people 've never seen a movie before...(maybe too much video-gaming) or they want to support the basketball community...or so , maybe there is some quality ball playing , yet doesn't worth the suffering of enduring this piece of crap more that 10 minutes. On the other hand if you want to suffer , go ahead and take a peek and then , you tell me bro!
It's a well-done drama with a couple of clunkers in it. The ONE thing that was slightly disappointing was the strange ending. The ending was rushed and corny. That's my opinion. The cinematography however is just beautiful - I remember sitting in the theater and saying "who the hell shot this?" I think the actor who played Diggs should get at least a Golden Globe for his effort - I mean c'mon he's a real life slam dunk champion and he really can act...This is a very deep and meaningful film which has great moralistic lessons to offer the audience.
