I'm usually more at home reviewing restaurants than movies, but have just finished watching "The Neighbour (or Neighbor if you're in the US and spell it wrong !) ;) and felt strongly enough about this film (in a positive way !) to write a review on it.Although I've ticked the box that this review "Contains spoiler", I won't be giving any exact details away as that would ruin the movie, but suffice to say that this film's star is Josh Stewart who starred in "The Collector" (2009) and the sequel, "The Collection" (2012). I will not be giving away too much by telling the reader to expect that they should expect similar type action in this film - as to whether good triumphs over evil ? Well you'll just have to watch the movie for that ! :)
In the town of Cutter, most people keep to themselves. But when John comes home to find his girlfriend missing, he becomes suspicious and sneaks into his neighbor's house. What he finds there is unnerving, to say the least. Will he escape the house alive or become another victim? The Neighbor with a bigger budget and definitely a much better and talented cast it could turn out to be a great film unfortunately it was very slow paced and just your typical dumb horror film with some guy from next door who is crazy. There are way better movies out there on this kind of genre it's just that this movie isn't one of them. I'll give it an F!!
I absolutely loved this movie. I was jumping out of my chair so many times with my heart racing. Granted one of my favorite movies is The Collector so it kind of makes sense. Josh Stewart was great as always. A surprise came with Bill Engvall. I knew the guy was funny, but he can also act, and he does a wonderful job in this as the creepy hillbilly. I just can't praise this movie enough. It was raw and terrifying. This is what I want out of a horror movie. Unfortunately I had never heard of it before until a review on Bloodbath and Beyond. Out of all the crap that comes out, this should have got more attention. I am so happy that I watched this and would recommend it to anyone. Wonderful, absolutely wonderful. Don't now if this is a spoiler or not but the only reason I didn't give it a 10 was because Bill should have realized the music downstairs had turned off. Other than that I thought it was perfect. Thank you guys for delivering a top notch horror movie.
I finished watching The neighbor a few minutes ago and as of now(September 2016) I am not able to find a Wikipedia page dedicated to this movie, while even worse movies have their own Wikipedia page. Anyway, I decided to watch this movie solely based on its IMDb rating. Ans was I pleasantly surprised! I felt this movie needs to be watched by more people which is why I decided to write a review. The first few minutes made me think it was going to be one of those movies with disappointing endings. But at half hour past the beginning, things began to turn and the ride got more and more exciting. Positives: - Does not have too much gore like many other thrillers have. But still keeps u at edge of seat.Strong female characters who are not just there for skin show and they are the kind who don't need a male knight in shining armor to save them as in many other thriller movies. Does not have moments where people torture each other or give a long speech before killing them(no wiggle room for someone who's at gunpoint)All the characters are grey characters. Not completely good or bad. Gives us chance to think who we are rooting for.Negatives: - Lacks character development which helps keep the movie shorterHad a weak start which can seem boring to some people.Overall, it's an enjoyable movie.
