Ali G Indahouse is one of those films which should not be watched by those who don't like silly comedies, because it is certainly one of them. Although not unintelligibly so, as it is somewhat satirical and witty in its dialogue and characterization; and is clearly well written (like much of Sacha Baron Cohen's comedies).Ultimately, I rate comedies on how funny they are, and this movie did not fail to crack me up. Certainly not as good as Borat, but still a good laugh (especially when watched with others who also like Sacha's comedies).Would recommend to those wanting to watch a decent comedy movie, and those looking for a good laugh.~ 8/10 ~
A bombshell is dropped on ALI G when he is told that the government want to close down the leisure centre where he teaches young kids. He decides that he is going to go on hunger strike until they change their plans. When that fails he gets an offer to enter politics, unknowingly to him, he has been asked by a person who desperately wants to become Priministor and has used Ali to try and ruin the real Priministor's reputation so that he will resign. However when Ali is a success he is stitched up by the person who entered him in the first place he decides to put it right. This film starred: Sacha Baron Cohen, Charles Dance & Martin Freeman.ALI G INDAHOUSE was released in 2002. In my opinion this is a good film that will make you laugh and entertain you for 90 minutes. I do recommend this film because it is a good comedy which will make you laugh and if it doesn't then you clearly have no sense of humour.***/***** Good film
The hip-hop, white-gangster wannabe only known as Ali G (Sacha Baron Cohen) to his friends (Martin Freeman & Tony Way), his girlfriend (Kellie Bright) and his relative Nan (Barbara New). When the evil chancellor (Charles Dance) and his assistant (Rhona Mitra) wants to overthrow the Prime Minister of Great Britian (Michael Gambon). Ali G unlikely chosen by the chancellor to make the Prime Minister to look foolish and lose his credibility. But instead, Ali G is a success with the politicians and the media. Ali G is actually more clever and smart, despite what the chancellor thinks of him. Ali G finds himself being embraced by the nation as the voice of the youth and keeping things real. Now the chancellor has to find ways to destroy Ali G credibility as well.Directed by Mark Mylod made an amusing, extremely silly comedy with some sharp satire. It is fun to watch Cohen gives his character Ali G his 110 percent. Although it was only released in Grant Britian back in March 2002. The movie was finally released on DVD in North America in late 2004. Since Cohen is extremely well known for his sketch comedy in the U.K. and the U.S. in "Da Ali G Show".DVD has an good anamorphic Widescreen (1.85:1) transfer and an fine Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. The DVD has an amusing running commentary by Cohen, Freeman and Way but in the commentary track, the actors are doing their characters watching the movie. DVD also includes Deleted Scenes, Two Featurettes, Photo Gallery and Trailers. "Ali G Indahouse" is a good, crazy, sometimes wildly uneven comedy. Die-Hard fans of Cohen will enjoy this more than others. Besides, it is fun to watch Gambon and Dance in this absurd movie. Written by Cohen and Dan Mazer (Borat:Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, Bruno). (*** ½/*****).
Ali G Indahouse is a fantastic film that makes me laugh every-time I see it, the way that Sacha Baron Cohen can create characters that really stereotype what he is attacking and still be funny is one of his greatest aspects, and in the film he perfectly portrays a London chav. The film has so many funny moments that it would impossible to mention them all and so as not to ruin it for potential viewers I'm not going to mention any, but nearly every line is packed with some sort of witticism and yet still teach the audience about restecp. The only downside of the film is that I just found some of the support acting (other than Cohen who plays Ali G) to be too over the top for example Charles Dance as the evil MP was just too exaggerated to be as funny as he could have been, but this is just a minor let down on a fantastic film that I have watched several times and will watch several times more over the years, it gives a great sense of what can be achieved by British filmmakers if they have confidence in their own ability.8/10
