How odd that this film got mediocre critical reviews and has such a low rating on IMDb.It has some flaws, most notably an overly-talky script and a generally over-lit look to all of the night scenes, and early scenes don't make a lot of sense (seriously, why would he tell his brother NOTHING?).Flaws aside, though, it has a bunch of cool original ideas, some startlingly creepy scenes, and quite a few visuals unlike anything we've seen before. It also has the benefit of an excellent cast, most notably Fassbender in a far more lowbrow role than I would ever have expected him to agree to. (Come on, who would have thought he'd say yes to being a blood-drinking Nazi zombie?) It's hardly a timeless masterpiece, but it's entertaining and really quite nasty in parts, and is packed with startlingly original visuals. I really enjoyed it.
this is it this director should be given a chance to direct a doom video game if they ever rebooted it i absolutely love that game this director Joel Schumacher is one of the best i have seen most people hate him for ruining batman in 90s but i believe he likes over the top stuff when telling his stories and distances himself from reality.this film town creek or blood creek is one crazy film its got a unexpected cast & narrative actors like Henry Cavil & Michael Fassbender are highlights specially Fassbender he plays a psycho immortal villain trying to kill everyone his makeup is total scary he crept me out his good acting skills are added bonus.i agree with reviewers here this film is bloody disgusting at many points it includes animal violence a dog is killed by knife & horse gets shot multiple time still he wont die due to magic on him by the bad guy but here is the catch the film is not scary at all in fact its funny as it takes itself way to seriously it could have been a better film if the villain won sadly he looses.the pace is slow it does move forward with a decent speed half an hour i hated the ending the bad guy was about to become more powerful he was already creating havoc the big problem here is that it mixed it too many genre in one like Nazi,Hitler, witch craft, occult along with hostage situations.the plot:the story is about Richard Wirth who a century ago does some wrong things to a family then in present time a captor visits his brother & seeks revenge on his captors they both go to the town unaware of the horror awaits them.i won't reveal the details of whats the connection between family & these 2 brothers & how they come on the same side to defeat the evil but like i said this project feels something is missing it tries is best and does a good job at keeping the viewer hooked but falls short on proper execution.now one may ask what is the point of this whole film why this lame story was written at all involving Hitler apart from fiction some people still believe he was into magic & nonsense i wont go in those matters period, all i know is Joel Schumacher made this only for getting kicks out of the characters on the screen to put it simply Michael Fassbender is the man that owns this film as Richar Wirth he overshadows everyone i mean i ignored the plot and what was going on i was just looking at him.Overall Town Creek aka Blood Creek 2009 should be liked for what it is it is passable as a cheesy horror suspense film with Rated R scenes my rating is 5/10.Recommended
I don't know why I ever thought that a movie by Joel Schumacher would be worth watching. This guy is incapable of telling a story, instead he is more focused on creating dramatic lighting effects that look like a scene from an advert for the latest Volkswagen ad. He has the talent of Michael Fassbender at his disposal but reduces his appearance in the film to a few mumbled lines and appearing from every conceivable camera angle. After the black and white bit we jump to modern day America, no character development, plot explained in clumsy dialogue, something dramatic happens, then we see two dudes riding off down a river in a canoe, that's where I switched off. I'm never watching a movie by this buffoon again.
I assume if you are reading this review you enjoy horror movies to some degree. Blood Creek is by no means a movie you need to own, but its totally worth watching (its currently on Netfilx's Instant Stream in HD and 5.1!). Ignore the fact that this film is a Joel Schumacher film, its no where near as good as The Lost Boys but its MUCH better than Batman & Robin. And for an almost unknown horror action film, its quite fun! The films opening actually starts in the 1930's, in black and white, and is not needed. This scene was probably added by the studio once Michael Fassbender became popular due to Inglorious Bastards, as its the only time you ever see his face without undead makeup. The movie picks up pretty quick from there (now modern day), and soon its two brothers off to battle a family with a dark secret. Soon there is a powerful Nazi (Fassbender, who is part zombie, part necromancer, part vampire) who spawns zombies and undead animals and who will stop at nothing to feed upon the humans remaining at this secluded farmhouse and free himself to terrorize the world. The movie has a lower budget feel to it, with a small cast and the majority of the film taking place at this farm. However, with its action movie pacing, lots of blood and fun gore, and original elements, despite its flaws it a fun 90 minute ride. If after reading this review you are still interested, check this movie out, its a good time. If this doesn't sound like fun, well, go watch something else! Like, My Name is Bruce, perhaps...
