A slow horror movie filled with dialogue like ^ - Are you wearing makeup? * - Yea like a little. Do I look like a hooker? ^ - Yeah but like a rally high class hooker. *- Od Kaeh :D :D ^- Do you wana dance? * - Coohand anyone can figure out the rest of the nonsense in all the rest of the dialogues. Story was fine, pretty good in fact since it deals with the consequences of a strange infection on human nature, but I think the directing was pretty bad. There is no sci-fi in Viral, so 4/10 and I wont watch it again.
Stupid decision after stupid decision, this movie follow every cliché of how brainless the movie industry depicts every main character in horror movies.Characters are half-likable, plot is half-developed, disease makes half-sense. Cut your expectations in half, and maybe you'll be able to enjoy (half of) this movie.
Another film about an epidemic that spreads at an alarming rate infecting the entire world population, only it is not a virus but a parasite that takes control of its carriers. For a film of this type is a bit slow, and it seemed to be more a drama in a scenario of the beginning of an epidemic than a film about the epidemic, although it is also present there but little or nothing developed as to its origin. What seems unreal to me is that the said parasite makes the carriers blind but gives them supernatural force. As the main characters are stupid teenagers we have to expect the usual stupid behaviors on the part of said stupid teenagers, like breaking the mandatory curfew to go to a party and having the possibility of someone infected transforming and infect others, and of course, it is that what exactly happens. And here comes the first obvious plot hole: with so much noise from a party at a time of infection, martial law and mandatory curfew, was there no neighbor reporting the police or the army? From here on out the rest of the film happens in the house of the main actress with all the clichés and dramatics that we have already seen in other films of the sort, and the end does not escape the rule. 3/10
A virus breaks out causing the infected to lose their faculties and attack the healthy. In a small American town two sisters try to survive on their own when their parents are locked outside the quarantine zone. This film starts off really well. The two female leads are excellent, with strong engrossing characters. Watching them live their ordinary lives is great viewing. The relationship between the two sisters, one who is sexual active and the other not, is played out with great skill. As things start to head south they deal with the situation as best they can. This is where my praise for the movie ends. You can actually hit the pause button and see the exact second where some company executive taps the director on the shoulder and says "hey, bud, you remember this is a Sci-fi right?"The director and writers obviously weren't up for this. I think they probably asked the guy from the local comic book store for advice. As all the hard work and investment in the characters is thrown away to stick some ridiculous tentacles in - then try and pass it off with some very flaky biology.I am a big fan of sci-fi, especially post apocalyptic stories. This fails to deliver on both accounts. Despite my tastes I would rather this had panned out as a coming of age movie.Watch it for the characters, then turn it off to avoid the laughable appearance of the actual virus.
