One of the most classic and revered stories of all time, Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan returns to the big screen for a new generation. Tarzan and Jane face a mercenary army dispatched by the evil CEO of Greystoke Energies, a man who took over the company from Tarzan's parents, after they died in a plane crash in the African jungle.

Some of the animation is good, but when the character animation where the movie suffers. Some of them look like newly plastic dolls that hasn't been painted yet.The biggest problem is the writing. This takes in modern time, I would have no problem with this if it didn't create too many plot holes like why they couldn't use satellites to find the meteor instead of finding it by man. Another change that creates more plot holes is that Tarzan lost his parents when he was a kid, not a infant and somehow he forget what humans look like or how to speak English. Tarzan being a infant is understandable, but Tarzan being an old enough kid creates more problems. I could go on the questionable writing, but it will take too long. For the rest of the writing, there is no originality. Some of the and writings are too similar to the Disney's version... including the Lion King. Also the characters are terrible. Jane is a typical damsel in distress, Jane's father is pretty dumb like he doesn't take action when the villain, Clayton shooting at Jane's direction. The last bad element of the movie is the acting. Most of the acting is lifeless and emotionless. One annoying element is there is too much exposition with the narrator, especially when it is really unnecessary to the point it is insulting to the audience's intelligence.
Loved this film bought it for my 5 yr old daughter, really for me have read most of the Tarzan stories and loved this version, far superior to Disney, Believable characters very true to source material updated for 21st century.Other reviews complain about extra terrestrial storyline. Original e r b stories had that and more. Hidden cities advanced civilization. Mars etc.Look to the Tarzan comics you will see this, the original stories had elements of time travel, Tarzan himself and Jane became immortal. There is story where Tarzan travels to mars to help john carterHighly recommend
Review: Honestly, I thought that this movie was going to be really bad and after reading the reviews, I wasn't expecting that much, but for some unknown reason, I actually enjoyed it. Maybe that's because my expectations were low! Anyway, the animation isn't the best on the market, but some of the scenes were impressive. It doesn't have the catchy tunes or the witty jokes like most animation movies which is why it didn't go down well at the box office. As an adult, I did find the storyline interesting and it's always a plus when I don't fall asleep. The apes aren't as impressive as Andy Serkis as King Kong but they do move and feel realistic. Basically, the movie wasn't as bad as the critics are saying but I can see the kids wandering off after a while. Watchable!Round-Up: There isn't that many famous voices used in this film, which is surprising because it is a classic storyline which we have all grown up with. Maybe that's why it didn't get taken seriously. Although the movie got panned, it still made some money at the box office which is, most probably, due to hype and a big distribution. It will be good to see this storyline rebooted with some big names as the voices and a big Hollywood director because there is enough technology out there to make this concept a major blockbuster.Budget: N/A Worldwide Gross: $26millionI recommend this movie to people who are into there animation movies about a little boy who grows up in the jungle and gets brought up by apes. 5/10
This is NOTHING like the novel! Not even close! The title of this animated movie could have easily been called "Jungle Boy", as that is how far off from the novel this story line was! The graphics were good, but the animator who drew the characters has NO CLUE how to draw a human body, or how to portray the human musculature! The legs and arms weren't even close to what a human body in perfect condition would look like! They weren't even close to what a human body would look like! (The apes looked pretty good though.) Of note, I would really like to see a Tarzan movie, using an actor who could realistically play a man who grew up in the jungle, who swung through the trees his entire life, who ran and swam with the animals of the jungle.A man who grew up under these conditions would have a physique like a "god"! The muscles would roll smoothly beneath the surface of the skin. The man would move smoothly, quietly, gracefully, like a wild animal! Dwayne Johnson would be as close to the perfect Tarzan as I could imagine! Somebody should call Dwayne for the next attempt, but PLEASE, follow the novel, and for those of us who are die-hard Tarzan fans since childhood, DO NOT STRAY FROM THE NOVEL!
