This is a pro-Islamic storyline, and utterly derivative from much better thrillers. The acting is awful, Charlotte Rampling made my dog hide under the sofa, she does the Charles Bronson emotion thing (imagine freezing your head and then trying to talk), or to put it another way, if you think of Judy Dench as M in the Bond movies this is what Rampling tries to do, but she is not believable, and instead of acting she just meaningfully smokes cigarettes all the way through, I felt like shouting "would you please put the bloody fags out and say something"). The action scenes are rubbish, how many times is Sean Bean going to drop his gun or get hit on the head, if he was ex military he'd have died more times than I did watching him fumble his various pursuits or shootings. That scene when the terrorist turns his kitchen light off and escapes, and both pursuers (Bean and some plastic faced nerd in a nylon suit) choose to look upstairs instead of chasing after him, laughable. The twist is pathetic and the demise of Rampling's character is schoolboy fiction. I want my 90 minutes back. PS The fact that many intelligent people think this is how the security forces do behave doesn't make this a good movie.

Solid and gritty British thriller that feels a bit slow compared to your typical non-stop Hollywood action movie due to its many stops and starts and flashbacks. The plot is reasonably unpredictable and the film takes pains to flesh out the terrorists characters so that they are not just cardboard fodder to be blown away by the troubled anti-hero. "Yippie ki yay, m-f," wouldn't work well here at all. I suspect that one of the higher goals of this film was to "open minds" in the direction of greater understanding and tolerance towards people of one particular religion (you can guess which one), but it had the opposite effect on me, so "Sorry Charlie!" as far as that goes. Be forewarned that there are some scenes of realistic and harsh violence, but so what's new nowadays anyhow. This is definitely not one of Sean Bean's finest movies, but it is still worth the time if this is the kind of subject matter you're seeking. In any event, it's much better than most American films along roughly similar lines, as I discovered after losing an hour and forty-five minutes to "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit" immediately before this. After watching "Cleanskin", "Jack Ryan" seemed childish and dopey in comparison and found itself summarily demoted from its original 6 stars down to 4. What can I say, "War is hell."

The production value in this movie is outstanding given the budget that they had to work with. Solid performances throughout the entire cast, and who doesn't like to see Sean Bean kick some major butt! There was some pretty great action sequences in this movie, but do not go into this movie thinking that it is a full on action flick. We also see the complexity of Ash, as he is changes from a normal University student to a brainwashed terrorist. It's on Netflix too, so you should watch it when you get a chance! I highly recommend this movie to fans of Taken, James Bond, or anything Sean Bean!

The story begins intriguingly by going straight into an action sequence. It then flips back and forth between Sean Bean's character and the man who becomes the 'bride' later on. This kind of approach is a redo to some of the nineties era movie which sees less surprises but greater anticipation as the viewers think they have seen all elements for the story to unfold. But in the end, the story is still able to present quite nice twists, although they're quite predictable just as they're going to appear. The action is not really a high class execution here. But this movie depends more on ruthlessness on the part of Sean bean's character. He is indeed the right choice this his role here due to he can still retain the ruthless character I once saw in Patriot Games.
