The movie is nothing great. The book is much better at telling the sad story of an aging couple in the real world.

This movie was long and drawn out and just terrible. The fact that they were hell bent on going on this trip was pure foolishness, and someone with dimentia to that degree would not be able to even drive, let alone drive a vehicle of that size. And Helen's character was constantly upset and didnt enjoy one second of the trip. It was upsetting to watch, and even more upsetting was the way it ended, I was just sick and shocked over it. No thanks, we dont want this for our seniors in America! It was disgusting! I'm sorry I even saw this movie.

This is my first review here of any movie. I am 61 years old and the book was a wonderful read, especially for my age-group. I never expect a movie to follow the book or be as good as the book. This movie is written terribly and it a waste of two wonderful actors. Come to find out that this was the screenwriter's first screenplay. Don't Helen and Donald, and the other actors and the writer of the novel deserve more. It just disgusts me what this writer has done to this novel.
