Widower Raghunath Singh lives a very wealthy lifestyle with his daughter, Shalini. While making a presentation on the importance of women, he is shot at by a woman, but is uninjured. Shortly thereafter, Shalini introduces him to her boyfriend, Advocate Ajaykumar Saxena, who turns out to be the nephew of Dindayal, Raghunath's childhood friend. Raghunath subsequently hires Amar to train Shalini to be a good businesswoman, and expects both to marry soon. Then Shalini finds out that there she has a twin named Ratnabai, who is the daughter of a Courtesan who had been intimate with Raghunath, and was responsible for the attempt on Raghunath's life. She brings Ratna to her home, much to the chagrin of her dad. Soon Ratna starts to make herself at home in her new surroundings, and her demands start to increase - from mimicking Shalini, to flirting with Ajay.

After one of their elite officers Chandran (Raghavan) is brutally murdered, the CID force sends in their most elite officer Nazir (Prem Nazir) to investigate. While studying in Aligarh Muslim University, Anwar Hussain Anwar falls in love with a veiled woman and is unable to get her out of his mind. Nawab then asks Anwar to teach his sister, Husna, some poetry, to which he agrees, and eventually finds that she is the very same veiled woman. Both fall in love with each other and the Nawab approves of this alliance, even though Anwar lives a poor lifestyle. The formal engagement ceremony takes place and arrangements are made for the wedding to take place soon. The heavily indebted Nawab does not realize that soon he will find Anwar in the company of a lowly courtesan, Najma; and pressure will be brought on him to get Husna to marry wealthy Munne Raja - who is all set to auction the former's mansion as well as belongings.

Renu lives a poor lifestyle with her family. Shattered and devastated with the deaths of her father and brother, Renu decides to take up the mantle of feeding her family, hiding her dad's death from her ill and fragile mother, and goes along pretending that her father is still alive. Things brighten up when a homeless young man, Anand, enters her life, both fall in love with each other and want to get married. But once again fate plays a cruel joke on Renu as she subsequently finds out that Anand is not who he claims to be, but is in fact, a playboy, the grandson, nicknamed 'Prince", of one of the wealthiest man in town, Dwarkadas, and Anand is scheduled to get married to Rekha - the only heir to a multi-million rupee estate.
