it is far to be the best film of Alain Delon. first, for the flat story, for the action/revenge who desires resurrect the cop thriller, for the impression to be just a pretext for admire the physical condition of Delon. for him, nothing new, after a long experience in the filmography of this French genre, all seems be reduced at the clichés. many, nice for the fans of action films, predictable, proposing the image of stranger who has the only purpose his revenge. so, few spectacular scenes, a form of love story and not the most inspired dialogues.

At 50 years of age, Alain Delon was just as hunky as ever, in a different way from his Purple Noon days -- more built, more rugged, incredibly handsome rather than pretty. In short, fabulous.Delon here plays Daniel Pratt, an ex-police officer whose daughter was killed by a vigilante group that goes around shooting criminals. Her boyfriend was a thief and takes her along on a robbery, though she objects and urges him not to be involved. The hooded vigilantes kill all of them.Pratt, living on an island now, travels to France with the idea of seeking revenge. Delon, who formed his own production company in the '70s, co-wrote, produced, starred in, and even sang the song over the final credits, I Don't Know, with Phyllis Nelson. José Pinheiro directed.Delon, of course, showcases himself at 50, doing a difficult gym workout, fighting, jumping, running, and letting us see his chest. Toward the end of the film, he does a circus clown act. It was all fine with me.In the final song, Nelson has a terrific voice, and Delon and his French accent provide the sex.You can see I'm a bit prejudiced.

This movie tries to pull a string of a genre that was already dead and gone. French cinema was very good on that topic during the sixties and seventies. But in 1985, the French cop - crime - drama genre produced mostly poor quality movies that didn't age very well. If you want to see the top of the genre, watch The Sicilian Clan (1969).In Cop's Honour the scenario is very flat and predictable. A group of not well defined extremists opens fire on young people. There is also a scene where what it seems black immigrants are also shoot at. During this spree, they kill Delon character daughter. It creates a pattern of "justifiable violence" as the ex-cop returns to France and starts killing the murderers one by one. This is a boring movie which reminds me some sequels of Bronson's "Death Wish" with even less redeeming qualities.

This is for me the best movie Alain Delon ever did, look at his physical condition at the age of fifty, there's a lot of Action in it with great stunts performed by Delon himself! It also is a violent movie ,but you'll only see that in the uncut french version, the TV-versions and DVD's at least in Germany are heavily cut. The story is a kind of revenge for my daughter story written by Alain Delon himself who also produced the movie and sang the chanson at the credits! Don't expect too much dialogue if you like that I would recommend that you watch Delon in Un Amour de Swann, Swimming Pool and of course Plein Soleil. It's a very hard to find movie in Germany, even more if you like to watch it uncut.Poor Fact Delon's or even other French Actor's Movies recent Movies are not shown in German Theaters, but premiered at Cable TV.
