Creep is one of my favorite found footage horror movies, it was unique and actually quite scary. So I was excited for Creep 2, I watched it and it does not hold a candle compared to the first. A girl named Sara has an internet series called "encounters" where she basically films random weird people from the site Craigslist. Her series has low views and she finds an add to document this strangers life, so she travels to a remote house in the country, just like the first Creep. The first thing is that Sara is completely stupid for not walking out of the door because Josef actually shows her the video of him killing the guy in the first film. He even calls himself a serial killer, yet even with all of his odd behavior she still stays. What made the first film so good what that even though we knew Josef was insane, we didn't know that he was a killer. No person in their right mind would stay with this guy, no matter how much you care about views. Josef is also even more insane than in the first, it's over the top to being comedic. I know the first had some funny moments, but this has zero scares, and parts of it drag on. I would have to say, this film does not even have the jump scares that the first film has, which could be a positive to some. I didn't have the tense feeling as Creep while watching this sequel, it is completely disappointing. This is an sequel that did not need to exist, and taints the first one somewhat. So, if anyone reads this, watch Creep and if you liked it and your curious, give Creep 2 a watch. Many people seem to like this film better than the first, so maybe I'm in the minority.
Keep away if you don't wanna be bored by endless sequences of nothingness. The introductory scene was quite catchy, and I must admit, it left me shuddered. But the rest of the film fell flat: I wasn't scared and neither was I creeped out by anything.I liked the plot. It was intriguing and new. A lot could have been done with the set-up, and instead, what I saw was pretentious serial killer film that tried (and failed) getting under my skin and rattling me up within. The atmosphere, the handheld cameras, the absence of music - these are great tactics, but they don't work unless the script does, or rather, in this case, the sketch of the killer does. Or maybe the film was trying to be art of some other kind, of which I wouldn't know.Creep 2 is an hour and fifteen minutes in length, but unfortunately, to me, it felt a lot longer. If you have anything else to do, do that.
The eponymous character, Joseph is so enthusiastic and exuberant that it's entirely possible to believe that he genuinely thinks he's doing something positive. "Maybe we're all a bit weirder than we give ourselves credit for." Encounters voice over woman.
I actually disagree with some of the other reviews. I liked this second film more than the first. The scares might be fewer and further between, but, they run a lot deeper. The two main characters compliment each other very well. There is also some great comedy moments in this and they were able to make it fit in with the rest of the film. If you liked the first, you will probably like this one too.
