This movie has all the things a horror movie should have with suspenseful and bloody kill scenes along with nudity and sex.. But this movie suffered from poor acting along with a script that could have been better written as it had some plot holes in it plus the cinematography was poorly done in some scenes. However the soundtrack was decent and the scene with a woman trying to seduce the pool boy was hilarious which is why I gave it 5 stars.

I had no idea what kind of film I was about to watch, and still didn't have much of a clue by the end of it. This semi-psychedelic groove fest involves a doctor being blackmailed for fifty grand by a guy with a mullet (seems he used to do back room abortions) and having to team up with the daughter of one of his patients, but she's not too sane as she's always putting the moves on him (and the pool cleaner, who runs off once she disrobes and chases him around the pool). Her dad is dying of some heart condition and although she superficially acts like the loving daughter, she's actually a loony high on amyl nitrate (she also gives the doctor some, leading to a trippy sex scene). Meanwhile, the doctor's girlfriend (who also gets naked quite frequently) is trying to figure out a way to get the mullet guy off her boyfriend's back (also involves sex, doesn't work). When the crazy daughter says that she could be due some cash from her inheritance, things take off down murderous road, with a few twists and surprises thrown in for good measure (including a brutal murder). They sure don't make them like this any more. Probably for good reason. Alternatively slow and then engaging, then slow again, then trippy, then violent, Blood Mania still manages to keep your attention due to the frequent nudity during the first half, then all the violence in the second half. I did have a laugh when the doctor managed to whoo and then bed the other daughter over the course of one day. Oh, and wait till you get a load of that picture the crazy daughter's painting! The murder at the end was a bit of a shock, but please remember I am very easy to please when it comes to films like this, and I'm a lot more patient than most people. It was a good looking film, and a bit hard to categorise.

Craig Cooper (Peter Carpenter, who also wrote the script), a young doctor, is haunted by a questionable past and entrapped in a hopeless present by jealousy, blackmail and murder. Oh, and maybe some incest. The Mill Creek DVD has an image that is squished in, making things seem too too and narrow. The picture, however, is crisp and clean, top notch for a film that probably had a very low production budget. The film is full of exploitative sexuality: a bathtub scene with some female, and almost male, nudity. A tense negotiation and blackmail scene is cut with flashes to the doctor's wife changing. Immediately followed by the wife in bed. Extensive, artistically lit sex scene soon after. Then some blackmail sex. Undressing in front of a mirror. More sex. And more...This film would be ripe for a decent remake.

Let me start off by saying that the only reason I gave this film a three instead of a one is because of the shear number of boobs on display. Yes, this movie is full of topless females that have really nice breasts. The score is absolutely no reflection of the story as when there were no naked females in this movie for the most part I was bored to tears. The plot at times is incomprehensible, I am rather sure a couple of scenes were left out of this movie and they were scenes that were intricate to the plot. I am rather sure the dinner that never materialized on film on the copy of the movie I had had some important details in it, but it was just mentioned in passing here. Also, there seems to be something sinister regarding the father and his two daughters once again only hinted at and never shown or revealed within the main story arc. The story is basically a doctor, two daughters and a father with a medical condition all intertwining. One of the daughters is not even seen or talked about till after the father's death. The other daughter really likes her daddy's doctor and will do anything to get him. He already has a great girl that lets a guy do horrible things to her to get him out of trouble, but she vanishes from the film after this act and the doctor never speaks of her again. He is being blackmailed by the guy who did the horrible thing to his girlfriend that the doctor apparently forgets about. He needs money and the one daughter is willing to do anything to get it when not scaring away the gay pool boy. A bunch of sex scenes ensue though nothing that gets really hot and heavy, though that would have only improved the score as it would have made you forget the horrible plot. The boob shots keep one somewhat distracted, but it just can not make you stop thinking to yourself that for a film called Blood Mania there is remarkably little blood in it. This film was also on a collection of gore house greats, and so far none of the films have been particularly gory, in fact this one should have been on boob house greats instead as that is the only redeeming part of this film. As it is the film is just confusing...still wondering why the guy carried the body out at the end.
