I am really surprised by this documentary. Since I expected it being a blunt documentary that as usual picks a side, either for the Christians or for the LGBT Community. But this documentary has shown me personally that there are two sides to Christianity about homosexuality. Me personally as Atheist, most likely sees the side of Christianity that is very close minded about the LGBT Community. This Documentary has shown me that there are also Christians, that do support and accept the LGBT Community for what it is. Most Documentaries show that both things can't go together, which definitely isn't true. I'm glad to see that some parts of Religion open their minds concerning homosexuality and it really was very touching to see that. I'm glad I watched this Documentary, since this also gave me a new perspective of the new and transformed way concerning Religion. I'm glad to see a transformation. This Documentary in my opinion is a must see, since it gives understanding to both sides, whether it is the religious side or the LGBT side. Even if I don't believe in God, I strongly do believe if I did so, I would like him to be a God that loves us for who we are, the way we are and not for what color, race, gender or in who we are interested. We live in different and changing time now and it's time to let go of the old beliefs, this documentary proofs that belief and homosexuality can go together. In the end, we're all equal.
For the Bible Tells Me So is a documentary talking about homosexuality and how it conflicts with ideas of Christianity. Throughout the film, various families and couples of Christian faith are interviewed about their experience with close ones being homosexual and how they reacted to it. These interviews usually start with a discussion of their confusion, then the reveal of their homosexuality to their close ones. Various interpretations of how the Bible depicts homosexuals are also discussed throughout the film. I really enjoyed this movie. Most of the the interviews were engaging. I liked how they would interview people who revealing themselves as homosexuals, as well as people close to them, so that way you can see how both sides felt. Before watching this movie, I was never really aware about how some homosexuals sometimes don't realize their true sexuality until they're already adults, and married to another gender, this came as quite a shock to me. I was kind of surprised at how parents would react to the coming out of their child, the amount of negativity they had towards their homosexual children was very sad. I thought the animated cartoon segment was a nice touch to the film, because it kind of lightened up the mood, as everything up until then, and after was in a pretty serious mood. I'd rate this movie a 9/10, a must-watch for everyone.
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. The New Covenant/Testament we must live by teaches how we are all sinners. God loves homosexuals, but they must repent and change just like every other sinner.Anyone with a knowledge of the Bible will easily pick out the false claims made in this film.Satan is the Father of all Lies It is horrible what other sinners do to gays I agree, but true Christians do not hate. We have a duty to warn, and if we do not the blood of those we did not warn will be on our hands.
It was enough for me to hear the demented ramblings of such a paragon of virtue like Jimmy Swaggart, to understand the whole evangelical, religious right. A dash of hard core nationalism and frantic flag waving, a little song, a little dance, easy answers to some of the hardest questions, and when you mix it all up- evangelical Christianity. These preachers calmly dismiss most of compassionate teachings of Jesus Christ, and dig into the Old Testament( by the way, the other people's holy book)randomly. Pick and choose few rules, mostly concerning the gay people, and there it is. They are the righteous, and we are sinners. It must be great to be that simple, to blindly follow the religious music man, and to be stunned when they fail to live up to their so high standards. My religion is much more complex, and it's a life long struggle to do good and be a better person. Good and very useful documentary.
