While continuing the saga of the Aztec Mummy, they manage to raise more questions than they answer. A good portion of this movie is them flashing back to the last movie. They tie up some loose ends but raise some questions too. The scientist says the mummy won't go back to its home because of the explosion but in the first movie there had already been an explosion there and the mummy was still there. The best part is the guy who got fake injured in the last movie now has half his face burnt off and he walks around like the phantom of the opera. Sadly, there's no wrestlers in this one. It's just more people dying from getting gingerly pushed and lots of bad acting. If you saw the The Curse Of The Aztec Mummy, you have to see this.

No longer able to keep a secret, a doctor and his friends learn their efforts of safeguarding a valuable treasure is thwarted by a gangster trying to steal the belongings of an Aztec tomb guarding by a living mummy using his hand-made robot and race to stop him. This was certainly an interesting and enjoyable Mexican drive-in fare. What really works for this one is the Gothic atmosphere is quite creepy at times, giving this one some chilling moments along the way. That it leads off with the Aztec ceremony flashback, a complete elaborate Aztec layout which has a great detail and feel that when it gets to the action of the rituals, from the chanting and the lineup of the maidens, to the actual banishment ritual shown being completed, is a fine start and leads into the big series of underground sequences in the caves. The first sequence, where they break into the tomb and see the mummy laying there in the room with the skeleton and bringing it back to life chasing them throughout the eerie caves when they return again the second time, and the third encounter interrupting the creature' sacrifice attempt leading to the brawl around the tomb makes this an incredibly enjoyable, creepy sequence. Likewise, the sprawl through the cemetery where she passes the elaborate monuments and tombstones is a chilling Gothic set- piece, the return trip leading the robot through is quite fun and there's even more good points from the juxtaposition of the Gothic and cheesy here by featuring scenes like that of the cheesy-looking robot crossing through a Gothic cemetery or the creature's attack on a hideout dispatching a series of gangsters. That also extends to the overall look of the two titular creature which is quite readily apparent of its' low- budget nature throughout, which also brings up the first of the flaws here with this one. The biggest thing against this is that so little of what happens here can be taken seriously because the cheapness is much too distracting here, from the utterly pathetic robot design as it's one of the worst-looking ones in the history of robots on film and the general feel of the sets here give off a pretty obvious low-budget. It becomes all the more obvious in this version where this one decides to focus on the flashbacks of the others as there's three different times this one stops to bring those flashbacks up again which shows a pretty obvious quality-shift between this one and the others, and then partially ruins the effect by talking over the whole scene with a narration that takes away from the scene by describing what's happening during the sequence. The last problematic effort is the length at barely an hour long and keeping so many of the big scenes, from the hide-out assault and the finale fight between the two titular creatures hidden away till the back-end while there's other issues to deal with in such a short effort. Otherwise, this one wasn't all that bad.Today's Rating/PG: Violence.

This is the third film in "The Aztec Mummy" trilogy and it happens to be the weakest in the series. During a lengthy recap of the first two movies we are informed that 5 years have passed since "Dr. Eduardo Almada" (Ramon Gay) and his wife "Flor Almada" (Rosa Arenas) were involved in the incident in which the evil scientist "Dr. Krupp" (Luis Aceves Castaneda) tried to steal a certain Aztec breastplate and bracelet only to be prevented from doing so by the Aztec mummy named "Popoca" (Angel Di Stefani). But even after two unsuccessful attempts Dr. Krupp is still determined to get his hands on the hidden treasure of the Aztecs and this time he has invented a "human robot" to do his evil bidding for him. At any rate, rather than detail the entire movie and risk spoiling it for those who haven't seen it I will just say that while the entire story was pretty good it became quite apparent that there simply weren't enough resources available to carry it out on a successful level. As I stated earlier, a good fourth of the movie was taken up by the retelling of the first and second movies in the series. Considering that this movie only lasted 65 minutes that's quite a bit of film which could have been devoted to the matter at hand--but wasn't. Along with that the robot looked quite comical and required a great deal of discipline not to laugh out loud. However, it should be remembered that this movie was made in the 1950's and so some allowances should probably be made. Even so, there was simply too much material that needed time and depth in order for this movie to work and it simply wasn't available. Below average.

Momia Azteca Contra el Robot Humano, La (1958) * (out of 4) I've seen the American dubbed version of this, known as The Robot vs. The Aztec Mummy but this was my first viewing of the Mexican version. In this third film, The Bat somehow survives and in order to steal the priceless jewels from the mummy, he creates a human robot. This film runs 64-minutes and twenty-five of those minutes is nothing more than scenes from the previous two films. The new footage here is all pretty lifeless and dull with the exception of the robot, which has to be the poorest looking one in film history. The big fight between the robot and the mummy is dull as well. As bad as this is things got much worse with The Wrestling Women vs. the Aztec Mummy.
