This abomination of a bad mini-series is so bad that I directly want to warn people from ever watching it. It drags on for 3 hours where nothing happens. Yes it's based on a Stephen King novel, but it's also an extremely lowbudget TV-series.Bad acting: check Bad lines: check Pointing out the obvious every time it happens: check Annoying as hell characters: check Annoying British hero who looks and speaks like he's Australian and a lost member of "The flying doctors" that got on the wrong plane: check Unrealistic stereotypes: check Characters interacting in a completely unrealistic way: check Characters not needing to go to the bathroom, eat or sleep for days and stay completely calm: check Extremely horrible CGI even for 1995: check.Only good acting is from Bronson Pinchot, who is the only one who reacts the way people would really react if, this happened to them: scared out of his wits.Stephen King should be forced to apologize for writing something this bad, as it is apparently very close to his crappy novel. And the director and the special effects team needs to be taken outside and shot for making this turd of a mini series.NEVER WATCH THIS!!!!

I think this mini-series had great potential. It wasn't one of King's best book adaptations to a made for television screen-play, that's for sure. The characters weren't the same as in the short story at all. Also, I don't think they had much of a budget to work with at all, or at least it APPEARED that way when you watched it.I thought the character backgrounds were blotched together and very vague. The mini-series doesn't give you much of who they are until close to the end. There is the one businessman that is just annoying. Seriously, you'd want to punch this guy's character in the face multiple times. Craig Toomey is his name in the flick. My god. In the story, there's only a small group of people that survived when the airplane that they were inhabiting flew through an aurora borieles (the Northern Lights). It just happened to be a small wrinkle in time that sent the surviving passengers back about ten to fifteen seconds into the past. There, they are challenged with finding out how to fly back through the time wrinkle, before being consumed by the time eaters known as the Langoliers. Toomey had known about them the whole time. His father used to threaten him that if he wasn't perfect, they'd eat him alive. Well, Craig Toomey thought they weren't real, until "then." Without giving too much away, my opinion on the cast, is that it had good actors, but a very sh**ty script. It looked as if it were rushed. Also, when the Langoliers appear to the audience, expect some of the worst CGI you've ever seen. It is very comical. I'm actually not sure If I would recommend this as a mini-series run for anybody or not. It's just one of those filming projects you have to judge for yourselves.

This is a great thriller based on Stephen King's novel where a group of travelers awaken to realize they are the only 10 survivors on a plane - everyone else has vanished! They land in a remote airport, where everything surrounding it including the air is still. There, they try to find out where all the people went and why they are the only ones standing. It's an exciting unpredictable mini-series full of plot twists and surprising moments, from the suspenseful investigation scenes around the mysterious airport to the eerie and horrific sounds that they hear approaching them.Supported by some pretty good acting, a fast-paced plot and bone-chilling action, this mini-series is one thriller you don't want to miss! Grade B

This is based on a science fiction novel by the acclaimed author Stephen King. It is said to follow the book closely, and as science fiction goes it is very original and rather good. This is a film with no villains unless you count the berserk bond broker who stabbed two people killing both of them, but the poor guy was haunted by the ghost of his malevolent father, considering that and all the circumstances, few courts would not entertain an insanity plea. This is also a film – in reality a TV mini-series - that was made on a relatively modest budget, taking place mostly aboard an aircraft and at a deserted airport. Ten people aboard a night plane close their eyes, and when they wake up they are the only ones there. Conveniently their number includes a pilot, a British agent, an author who would give Stephen King a run for his money, and a blind girl who has ESP or something akin. They break into the empty cockpit – something that in the post-9/11 world would be no easy matter - and the pilot manages to land at Bangor, Maine. But are they in Bangor, Maine, or a parallel dimension, or is something else going on? And what are the Langoliers? If you find out for yourself, you won't be disappointed.
