I can see why one reviewer found the film "terrifying." Once it gets going, the cemetery scenes are creepy enough--enough for me to almost forgive the shaky cam. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was ruined before it even began because the first 30 minutes were filled with teenage boys crudely talking to and about teenage girls, trying to grab their bodies, and filming up their skirts and other parts of their bodies without permission. The target audience seems to be young men, and the rest of us are left behind.
I really liked this movie, not sure why the reviews are so bad. The plot twist at the end is really unexpected. I liked this movie because it actually scared me, most horror films don't. Sure, there are plenty of movies out there that center around a bunch of dim witted kids using an ouja board to contact dead loved ones. But this movie offers a unexpected plot twist that I think separates it from the rest. I'd would definitely say, give it a chance. You may be pleasantly surprised.
The first thing to do when you leave see "Cementerio General" is to request the complaints book, they offer "Film terror" and it has nothing of film of terror. An insult to the genre of "found footage". Because, let's face it, there are bad movies, very bad, disastrous and then is "General Cemetery".As supposed did not satisfy my craving for suspense, has flashes of comedy and no originality. actors with dismal performance and style recording camera in hand that had me bored. No plot, excessively abusing the easy joke and a horrible image as it is supposed to have been recorded with a cell phone. All this together produces a sad result that despite lasting only 1 hour and a quarter, is eternal and boring as waiting at the dentist.Too bad, SIMPLY BAD!!!!. this film has nothing good ... sorry for being Peruvian... but it is the truth.
I will start saying that the success of this movie as a product happened because of publicity. It's presented as the first horror movie made in Peru but it doesn't even have a original script. All the horror scenes in this movie are based in American movies. The first part of the film its presented as a found footage movie, but the hand camera (manipulated by a character) its awfully managed, and because of that the whole location gets lost.SpoilersThe best part of this movie it's the sense of humor, the characters know how to represent the spirit of the young Peruvian people. But, the comedy part inside the movie last for too long. Even in the most "terrifying" part, jokes are still around. Characters are clearly overacted. The bad manipulation of the hand camera creates many distractions in the viewer and the movie lost the real objective of the film, scare the audience. Finally after a very confusing plot we discover that it has all been a revenge and the girl who tried to avenge her father got killed by the possessed kid, and for no reason her soul starts to kill everyone of her old friends that had nothing to do with her original problem.
