Okay, so Horror movies I usually rate higher as there are so many terrible ones out there which lowers the bar. And there are so many great South Korean movies out there and so the bar raises again. I guess the grading curve evens out.I was hoping to like this, really hoping to like this and as it started it piqued my interest a little. Not enough though, the ending could have been a copy off a dozen other movies. Either Korean or Horror. The dream sequences irritated me, used to be jumpy, used to be quaint but at this stage in the game it's just used. Ghost grabbing, crawling, etc, look like doom and then you jump out of bed only to be attacked again, to only wake up again. And for the whole time you're staring at it well aware of their little trick and look, oh my they're doing it again! So a little disappointed that something that looked like it had a small amount of potential turned out to be a big Ol' Yawn.

I wanted to like it and I made sure I would! Why? Because the crime touch was lovely, and gave this movie right here a different breeze, something new, something exciting, even tho it was not too hard to figure out, it still took me for a nice ride. If you want to see it, you shouldn't read too much into it, just let the element of surprise be present. It has some good moments to offer, some thinking to do, great visual parts, therefore it acts like it should do. Don't waste more time seeing if it is a worthy production or not, don't dig too deep or you might ruin it for yourself, take it, watch it and pass it along.29 February, a more different Asian horror than most, so my thanks go out to the brave people involved in the making of it, for the courage to show something more complex than your typical flick!Cheers!

Don't expect something like "Ju on" or "The ring". It may appear similar but the approach is different from those movies. There is this Urban legend where the scares are build on. But look closely at the source and the main character and you will know something is off. There are two twists at the ending which will motivate you to watch the movie again! I think that for the avid horror fan there is not enough gore and action. The pace is a bit on the slow side. It would have made more impact if the movie had a faster pace and if there had been more murders. I understand that this movie is more about the atmosphere. The cinematography and location(the toll booth in the middle of nowhere) provide an ambiance which is creepy enough. In combination with the slow pace and the urban legend concerning 29 February you will be drawn in the movie. The main character is likable and not annoying. Even when you suspect something is wrong with her you will care for her. This is key for the two twists at the ending. I give this movie 6.8 points out of 10!

This series of 4 horrors are truly the best in asia. Simple, logical and terrifying. J-horrors are sometimes too loose, and some directors can go too far away from a good story. Korean movies are usually on the slow hit compared with other Asian films. Yet these 4 movies keep rather good paces. The "dark forrest" is the slower among the 4, and it's quite confusing the first part. Although it's a good trick, it's rather small and has been kept too long. "Hidden floor" is not my favorite either, but the acting of both mother and girl are quite natural and convincing. This one, "Feb the 29th", is fairly scary. Perhaps because I personally know similar places as what's in the movie. It's a good tale, a gripping urban legend, while the alternative/scientific explanations alleviate the intensity of horror. Borrowed some Ju-on gimmicks, so as "hidden floor", but it seems to be universal after the success of Ju-on :)
