I made the mistake of brushing off this movie for years until Netflix made it easy to catch up on hard to find Italian films. When people call a film sleazy, I think of crude, cheap technicals, not plot or theme. The photography, lighting and art direction are astonishing in Nude For Satan. These elements alone are what makes this film worth seeing. The plot is incomprehensible but that doesn't matter. I watch Italian horror films for the visuals and the lavish art-house style. There is a level of artistry in even the cheapest Italian productions, with few exceptions. Rita Calderoni's nude body in nearly every scene is another inducement to watch NFS. She's utilized much better here and looks better than in Delirium.
Films like this are rated on their style and visuals more than their plots, and that's definitely a good thing when it comes to Nude for Satan as the plot is confusing, pointless and silly; but at least director Luigi Batzella manages some striking scenes and visuals which just about make this tacky horror flick worth a look. The plot, which focuses on a man out driving, is really typical of films like this, and features clichés such as a rainy night, a stranded woman and a foreboding old castle. Naturally, it turns out that there is more to the castle than meets the eye; as the woman who greets him at the door looks exactly like the one he's just picked up, and that's just the start of it. I would describe this film as Satanism meets the lesbian vampire genre with some additional weirdness thrown in. The women are, naturally, nice to look at and the fact that there are a few lesbian sequences doesn't go down badly. The most interesting part of the film involves a woman trapped in a spider's web: I don't really have an idea what it was all about, but it looked nice and that's the most important thing. Overall, Nude for Satan is not one of the best films of this type, but unlike many; it's at least worth a look.
If you go by its individual aspects this movie is terrible!!!!The cameraman appears to be drunk during most of the shoot and the visual effects are shoddy and the "spider" especially so. As for the plot line I have no idea what is going on, the dubbing doesn't appear to match the the screenplay and the script is of a very poor English.Taking all this into account it is one of the funniest films I've seen in weeks, with one of the most unusual sound tracks for any horror I've ever seen and some of the most random but hilarious lines I've heard. If this is on TV it is a must see but don't go out of your way.
A doctor and a young lady(beautiful Rita Calderoni)have just been involved in a car accident. The doctor leaves the girl at the accident scene, and runs off to a spooky castle for help.He enters the castle, and finds that it's inhabited by some laughing ghoul(most likely Satan himself).Later, the young lady goes looking for the doctor, and eventually finds her way to the same castle. However when they meet again, they find that they haven't met each other, they have meet their doppelgangers.Luigi Batzella's "Nude for Satan" is a great piece of sleazy trash. The special effects are jaw-droppingly awful(a monster spider especially comes to my mind!)and the dialogue is horrid. Still there is plenty of nudity to satisfy fans of Italian sleaze.Rita Calderoni is naked pretty often and her lesbian scenes are suitably sensual.A must-see for fans of Italian sleaze/horror!
