I stumbled on this movie by accident in a hotel room. I started watching in the mirror while shaving, then got interested. Turned out to be a good flick. A bit unrealistic (I can't see kids of today actually getting interested in roller skating at this level), but a good movie with a good guy/bad guy theme, with none of the usual overboard and unnecessary violence. It had a good combination of comedy, father/son turmoil, love interest, a good guy to root for, a bad (but likable) guy to 'boo', and basically wholesome content that anyone could take their kids to see. I liked it!

I also enjoyed this movie because it brought back good memories. In 1978 I was 17 and the thing to do on Sunday nights was going to the skating rink. Mama bought me skates so I wouldn't have to rent and I wanted to learn to do roller disco. I thought I was getting pretty good and while skating to "Good Times" I tried a move that I shouldn't have and broke my left leg. After it healed I went back to the rink but didn't try anymore fancy moves. I doubt I still have the skills and most of the rinks here are not a very good spot for kids. When my daughter was a teen, I took her and some friends to a rink and there was more dancing in bare feet than skating. Kids today don't know the fun they missed in "the old days." I also liked the soundtrack from the movie and am looking for one to play and drive my daughter crazy! She HATES disco!

I have to take my time and talk about this film. I mean come on Bow-wow or whatever his name is and Nick Cannon in the same film? Two wrongs don't equal a right and this film explains why.I swear that I tried to force a laugh throughout this movie but I couldn't get past Nick Cannon's amazingly stupid character that made me so angry on how he could not make me laugh. To make this film the worst of all time we would need Uwe Boll or Ulli Lommell to direct this.I'm not saying all of you will hate this movie. Obviously it's not on the top 150 worst films list but it's a movie I would recommend skipping. This and Underclassmen. Nick Cannon needs to go away! HE IS NOT FUNNY!

In the late '70s when roller skating is all youngsters were doing, X (Bow Wow) and his pals ruled at it. But when the doors of their local skating rink close, they feel it is the end, there is another skating rink that they don't like to attend - uptown's Sweetwater Roller Rink, complete with its over-the-top skaters and beautiful girls. Preparing for a skate off later that week, X and his friends have to work together and win as a team.Roll Bounce is Bow Wow's second lead roll in a film. I have to say he wasn't bad. He's a good actor. There is a scene when X and his father are arguing and he gives a performance that I thought was well. But I have to say that his rapping isn't so good. I feel that he acts better than her raps, and that's not a good thing. There were other young actors and I thought that they will be getting some roles later in their career. This also is a good movie. I enjoyed it. You will have watching this because I did. There were some in jokes that you can laugh at, the story is good and the acting is well done. I remember the movie "You Got Served" which I thought that wasn't a good movie. The acting in that movie was terrible and watching Roll Bounce, you know which is a better movie. This is a fun movie and I am recommending it. People will enjoy this film. 7.5/10
