As a fan of film i cringe when i hear the word sequel, because let's face it films rarely if ever have sequels that come near the original and in horror films that number is a fraction of that. With that thought in mind there are films I've come to in my travels that at the end i ask myself or whoever is still in the room at that time " How can you follow that one up?". In many cases you just can't, however there is that time when lightning indeed does strike. Ironically i came to this when watching a sequel that I had absolutely no hope for what so ever and that film is nekromantik 2.Now before i defend my stance on this film let me catch all those uninitiated up to speed. We start out with the end of the first film where Rob is killing himself on the bed but set in an archival seepiatone lens. Cut to Monika, a nurse with a real nasty fetish, She finds Rob obituary and decides his work is not done. So she takes him home and has her fun but as usual something comes up. Monika meets a nice guy who dubs porn films for a living. The two hit it off and a really nice romance blossoms and of course old habits die hard. After some odd indicators that Monika isn't who she says she is and some soul searching she decides to have her cake...or corpse and eat it too resulting in a creative but disgusting solution to her love troubles. Now first off i do not in any way shape or form advocate or condone necrophilia but the film was solid. The script was coherent, the casting was good, the placement of characters actually made sense witch really cut on continuity errors..which we all is a hallmark in horror sequels. The film itself was in my mind very well made, everything was here. It was dark, disturbing, more disgusting at some points than the original. I even admired the other flashback scene where Betty comes to Robs grave and gets angry that someone pilfered the plot before her. Now sitting she thinks back to the last time they spoke and how she tore him down realizing how nasty she treated him and cries at his empty plot. In closing this film is not for everyone and that is a actually a gross understatement...no pun intended . Love it or hate it this is one of the few times that one will find a film that actually lives up to the original. The fact that people still talk about Nekromantik twenty five years after its release to me says something and on top of that the fact that the sequel is still just as talked about really says something about the film in the terms that how often does that happen. Who really talks about Halloween part three, or nightmare on elms street part two...not many. All in all this is worth the watch...if your strong enough that is. all the good points aside this is still a film that deals graphically with something that most will find repulsive, reviewer included.
After the unexpected success of the first part it came clear that there would be a second part. Starting of were the first one ended. That was/is already the reason for most of the viewers to eject the DVD. The person spanking the monkey and by getting his orgasm cutting himself is offending. The acting is better but still worse, the story line is also a turkey but this kind of movies must have it from the gore factor and yep, there's a lot. Taking a bath in the blood of your victim for example. Like the first one the movie is a bit too long but the second part also became cult due the fact of , again, the love scene. But this time the effects are better, no blur, delayed visions, this time straight. And what a sequence it is, a girl making love to a guy, suddenly she takes a knife and cut of his head, all watchable in front of the camera, before he dies she makes sure that he still has a hard on. Having that done she immediately replaces his head with the rotting head of her ex lover, anyway, if your not into gore this part will make you vomit, not for the squeamish. Again, catch the limited double disc DVD, be sure not to loose your headGore 5/5 Nudity 3/5 Effects 5/5 Story 1/5 Comedy 0/5
I have seen that movie yesterday evening. It was a very interesting and absorbing experience. the first sequence depicts a suicide, alternating with the credits, a guy butchering is belly while ejaculating. so your are directly in the point. After that you have the story of a women who get his body back from the cemetery... and you have a whole allegory of a breaking up and a new love. She keeps the body in her apartment, meets a knew boy, tears the body into pieces and just keep the penis... in all those sequences we are on the verge of throwing up. it also alternates moments of true romance, while kissing, cleaning and finally sawing the body, with ironical or even wry sequences, for instance the wooing sequence (photo, ferris wheel, ice cream and the stripped underpants...), the bar discussion over what is a woman and the cinema sequence showing an experimental with 2 people on a devastated roof talking about ornithology and eating tons of eggs. the photography and the montage are very free and experimental. the music that alternate very fast creates a very special ambiance... a real strange experience
*SPOILERS!! BIG ONES* The sequel to the infamous and heavily criticized "Nekromantic" delivers some interesting scenes filled with gore but lack of feeling. The movie moves very slow and the fact that the score is dull and sometimes tedious doesn't help the movie to become entertaining or interesting. What really got me was the deep plot involving feelings, sex, gore, and violence. The situations are bizarre but passionate.Monika M's performance is average. I know that her character needs special skills because it's a really difficult situation the one she's been through but I think that she wasn't that passionate for the role. I expected a whole lot more from the shocking, thrilling ending. The scene is raw and shocking itself but I guess that it could've been more shocking. It's disturbing, and I don't mind saying provocative. The way she hurries in order to get her ex lover's head and places it on the recent dead man is as weird as you can expect. But the highlight is the way she "rides" the dead body with the rotten head. Nice. I haven't seen any other scene like that involving a decapitation, gore, and sex in such a brutal way. The scene delivers and makes the movie worth watchable just for it. I praise the director's intention to shock the audience and display the Necrophiliac disease as a deep feeling. There's plenty of violence, gore, sex, and the occasional shocking scenes so if you are into exploitation this is a must see. Probably not as best as the original Nekromantik but still deserves a watch. The movie is visually stunning and the camera angles are really good. The gore effects are also top notch and are the highlight of the movie. The movie is worth the watch for it's shocking content and brutal scenes. Also, Monika M. is very, very attractive.
