Okay, this was an internet film that was filmed in 6 days flat and released on iTunes. The trivia on IMDb boasts that it was the #1 selling iTunes season for 5 weeks. Does it hold up? I'm not gonna lie, it really is going to hurt.So what is the plot? Dr. Horrible wants to get into the Evil League Of Evil and get the girl of his dreams but his nemesis, Captain Hammer, has taken an interest in said girl and the Doctor tries to win her back while also assassinating Captain Hammer to get into the Evil League of Evil.As you can imagine, I have a laundry list of complaints. Okay the humor is just too stupid. I know it was meant to be stupid humor but singing how someone "smells like poo" sounds like something I'd expect to find in a comedy aimed at 6 year old's. What is the best joke out of the whole thing? Captain Hammer's said Hammer is his penis (as revealed in a conversation with Dr. Horrible)...and its all downhill from there. The absolute worst thing about this film (and that says a lot) is Felicia Day. I know that she was probably trying but she had no chemistry with Billy and no chemistry with Captain Hammer and to top it all off, her singing voice is as weak as the jokes. I mean okay, Dr. Horrible comes off as creepy, even in his "Billy" secret identity and Captain Hammer comes off as "I'm 100% perfect" type assholes, don't get me wrong that was the intention but if someone had to choose between these two, I sincerely hope to God that they'd choose neither. There are only 2 things salvageable about this film - it has a few halfway decent songs (Well...the first and last of the second act) and Nathan Fillion as Captain Hammer but thats because he plays it so over the top and even though he couldn't save the movie, he does provide the film with a leg to stand on outside of "the songs". To be honest, he acts like he didn't care for the part but that just elevated how great he was...not caring actually made a performance better. Those two things are the only solitary moments of entertainment I found in this film. Anything else, the writing, Neil Patrick Harris, the visual effects, the rest of the songs, the direction...it either ranges from awful to they looked like they had none of this to they looked like they were trying but not even they could save this (This last one only applies to NPH).Overall if you like this film, GREAT, I wont judge you but for me...this was 40 minutes of not caring, not being entertained and not laughing at any joke it was throwing at me. If you want what I'd call a funny internet movie, look up Suburban Knights or To Boldly Flee. Sure they're over 2 hours long but they still have something resembling jokes and satire. This lazily written and directed film...nope.

Okay, I am going to put this lightly: This is literally the stupidest "film" I have ever watched. The plot is hard to follow, it starts slow, the "humor" in it is not funny whatsoever, it's all perverted, childish, or dumb. If you actually appreciate decent musicals, don't watch this. It's a waste of time. I honestly don't know why the reviews are so high. The characters are not at all personable, it's extremely slow, cheesy, boring, and not interesting or engaging. My friend made me watch it with her and I wasted 42 minutes of my life. The acting sucked too. Definitely not worth your time or money. Skip this and watch a good film.

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog has an interesting story line that can be enjoyed by all people. Don't let the title scare you off, it might not seem the most entertaining but you'll be in for a treat. The movie has many different aspects to it that make it very entertaining. There are also a few elements that could be broken down in this film; they would be colors, the characters, and the setting. Pathos was also a big element of this film that can't be ignored. The film Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog can be enjoyed by all ages because of its interesting storyline and appealing characters. The setting for this movie revolves around the main character, Dr. Horrible. He is either filming a blog for his views, acting as an evil villain, or doing his laundry with Penny. Penny is a woman that Dr. Horrible has a huge crush on but doesn't know how to talk to her. The catchy tunes that they sing throughout the movie will get stuck in your head but you won't mind, they are very enjoyable. There is also another interesting character, Captain Hammer. He takes the place of a hero since Dr. Horrible is presumably the villain even though you don't view him that way. You probably won't view Captain Hammer has the hero but as a villain. This is because of pathos, the appeal using emotion. The audience is more emotionally attached to Dr. Horrible than Captain Hammer because Hammer can be seen as a woman stealer since he took Penny away from Dr. Horrible. Colors are also an interesting aspect in this film. Dr. Horrible wears a white lab coat for most of the movie while Captain Hammer wears predominately black clothing. White signifies the innocence of Dr. Horrible and the black expresses the evil in which Hammer possesses. Then after something catastrophic and unpredictable happens Horrible wears a red lab coat instead of the white one. Red is the color that expresses love and passion so I believe he's wearing a red coat to show he lost something that he loved. Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog will take you on an eventful ride and captivate you from the very beginning. It has romance, comedy, and action which will peak the interest of any viewer. This film also won't disappoint if you enjoy watching the characters use different technology throughout the film. It establishes pathos which will appeal to your emotions more and more as you get further into the movie. The storyline and setting are very interesting along with the characters and very good acting. I'd recommend this film to anyone who is looking for a good laugh, a romance, or an action packed movie.

Combining two seemingly discordant movie themes such as a theatrical, offbeat musical and a superhero flick may seem like cinematic suicide to some, but Joss Whedon's low-budget production Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog meshes the two genres seamlessly, creating something new and enjoyable for both musical and superhero fans, alike.Dr. Horrible, played by Neil Patrick Harris, is portrayed as a sad excuse for a villain, as his values are genuine and his attempts at badness are mostly foiled. Despite his poor attempts at being a super villain, Horrible's ultimate dream is being initiated into a clan of notorious villains called the Evil League of Evil, headed by the most terrible villain of all, Bad Horse, who is quite literally a terrible flesh and blood steed. Dr. Horrible records his feeble evil efforts on an online blog where he reveals his latest evil attempts and his unwavering love for a girl named Penny, portrayed by Felicia Day, who he has quietly adored from afar at the local Laundromat. Amidst one of Dr. Horrible's "evil" heists, he is surprised to find himself face-to-face with Penny, but is consumed by his need to conquer the evil feat at hand. When Horrible's heist goes awry, he accidentally introduces Penny to his longtime cocky, ridiculous hero nemesis, Captain Hammer, played by Nathan Fallion. When pretentious love ensues between Penny and Captain Hammer, Dr. Horrible holds back his bitter contempt for Captain Hammer, and grows close to Penny. Horrible then learns that in order to secure his spot in the Evil League of Evil, he must do the unthinkable – he must kill someone. Will his attempt go terribly amiss, per usual? Every step of the way we're presented with catchy, simplistic and clever songs dotted with awkward and effective humor with lines such as, "So I thank my girlfriend Penny. Yea, we totally had sex. She showed me there's so many different muscles I can flex. There's the deltoids of compassion, there's the abs of being kind!" Anyone who appreciates quirky, comedic music such as the melodies created by Flight of the Conchords will surely enjoy the songs of Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog. While the music is contagious and fun, the singing is a little cacophonous at times. Neil Patrick Harris can surely carry a tune, but he is wise to not quite his day job. The musical imperfections accompanied by poor lighting, unsteady camera shots, and poor special effects may ruffle the feathers of a conventional box office hit- loving movie goer. However, both the musical and technical impurities greatly compliment the other aspects of the movie, giving it a realistic spin. Joss Whedon succeeded in kicking up the dust over the conventional, serious, overly computer generated superhero genre with the creation of Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog. It's a delightful movie which I predict, in time, will easily take a seat between Clerks and Mystery Men in the great collection of cult classic films.
