It's simply incredible at how stupid this movie is. Roughly a third of the entire film is noting but stock footage from the original. Yes, that's literally what the film is and it's only interrupted by an occasional voice over and a scene showing the present. We see all of the murders that the main character committed. This is the first slasher film I've ever seen where a guy uses an actual gun to commit crimes. It's pretty easy to say that the "Garbage Day!" scene is the goofiest and most over the top part. It is however, followed by a scene where he shoots a car which spins out of control and blows up.I had in fact heard of this movie before the actual meme became popular. I think most people probably did. Most of the film is the guy telling a psychiatrist about all the people he's killed. This guy was caught by police because he failed to kill himself. He then kills the therapist and goes on to kill the nun who was responsible for his upbringing. Wait, if he was going to kill her, why did he attempt suicide before? All throughout the film, this guy has this goofy expression on his face.I think we actually managed to track down the real life actor and had some interview with it. Needless to say, he wasn't in anything else, really. I'm glad to have seen one of the worst Christmas movies of all time. It was supposed to be about a serial killer dressed as Santa. He doesn't even dress up as Santa until the last 15 minutes of the movie! As an installment in the "Silent Night, Deadly Night" series, it fails to even be a faithful sequel. It's so unbelievably awful with how this film is. 1/2*

If there is any kind of redemption for this painfully awful movie is, that if you've never seen the original 84 movie, you won't need to as the first half of this movie is nothing but a play by play rehash of everything that happened. Movie starts with a now grown up Ricky, younger brother of Billy from the first movie, who's now incarcerated in an asylum for the criminally insane. A doctor/psychiatrist comes to visit to interview and put Ricky on tape as to his motives and mind-set over what he has done. Ricky relays the story to the doctor and Ricky's recollection of events could only have come from his older brother when they were made wards of the state in an orphanage after their parents murder at the hands of a criminal dressed as Santa Claus. As the story continues all we see is extracts from the first film leading right up to the time Billy was killed by police in front of Ricky and the other kids. Ricky ends up eventually being adopted but seeing his brother killed as a kid has apparently left him unstable and unhinged and he starts murdering random people who either upset him or get in his way leading him to be captured and put in an institution. By the time Ricky has finished his story, the doctor has been killed by way of strangulation with the recording tape and Ricky has escaped. He kills a guy in a Santa suit collecting for charity and he tracks down the mother superior who ran the old orphanage as he blames her for his brother's death. Ricky decapitates the mother superior and is then gunned down by police but an end scene tells us that he's not dead. Now while all that sounds interesting, I can tell you without any hyperbole that this whole venture makes no sense, it's very poorly executed, badly acted and couldn't be more boring if it tried. This whole movie could ONLY work if Ricky were old enough to have ever known what went on with his brother or more specifically what happened to his parents. At the time their parents were killed, Ricky was only a baby, not even talking yet, and even if Billy was able to relay the story to him as he got older, as a kid he wouldn't remember it in such detail. Seeing his brother killed in front of him and having this turn him psycho makes no real sense either. Ricky never displayed any kind of mental illness, so yeah I can see how someone may be scarred but not immediately homicidal. One really stupid thing in this is that prior to his rampage, Ricky and a girlfriend go to a movie, which just so happens to be about a killer Santa Claus and it's all footage from the beginning of the first film in 84. So it's a film within a film and it just so happens to all relate to him and his history. Way to cut back on budget, and only add 30% new footage. There is so much blatant stupidity in this with people doing things that most rational or reasonable people simply wouldn't do, it plays more like a comedy instead of a horror and it's trying hard to be amusing but fails on all counts. The end scenes with Ricky trying to kill an old wheelchair bound woman with an axe are incredibly stupid and I'm still not sure how you can decapitate someone and not leave any traces of blood anywhere. You're not missing anything if you haven't seen this you'll do yourselves a huge favour by sticking to seeing the first movie and leaving it at that.

Billy is dead and gone, but his younger brother Ricky (Eric Freeman) is eerily following in his footsteps. As Billy tells his story, we see how Billy became slowly unhinged and very unstable, killing whoever steps in his path. He escapes from the mental hospital to not only avenge Billy's death, but get his hands on the pretentious Mother Superior that caused Billy's terrible descent into madness. I love bad movies. It isn't that hard for me to garner cheesy enjoyment from them if done right. This movie isn't enjoyably bad, it's just bad. This almost feels like a pseudo documentary at times. A large part of this movie is flashback footage from the first movie. I didn't really see how that was a necessity and it just ended up looking cheap and lazy, lacking its own identity. After 40 minutes of pointless flashback footage, we do get some original footage, but Ricky's story isn't all that engaging. The first movie was a good psychological story and a solid horror film that wasn't afraid to cross boundaries. They could have really done something special with Ricky's storyline. In lieu of making a memorable storyline, they decided to pi******#@s all over it. A lot of it is trivial scenes that involve Ricky's upbringing and the torment he's gone through. From the very first line that was uttered. "F off, Doc", I knew I was in trouble. There are so many scenes that are laughable that I don't know where to begin. How about the "It's garbage day" line from Eric Freeman. We also get a scene with Ricky and his girlfriend watching Silent Night, Deadly Night in a movie theater (!) that failed miserably by trying to be clever. The finale is admittedly hilarious, with Ricky goes on a shooting rampage, randomly shooting anything in sight, and a decent battle with Ricky and Mother Superior. Don't expect much gore, it's pretty dry. Aside from some gory clips from the first, highlights involve death by electrocution and an umbrella. The acting is embarrassing. Eric Freeman is not only an amateur, but thoroughly unlikable. Billy was a sympathetic figure that made you feel sorry for his plight. This clown is a vile human being that I had no sympathy for. His character casts aspersions on people for his problems and has a phony tough guy routine to boot. I could have easily done without the faux evil laughter as well. This movie is a piece of garbage that should have never been made. I've never seen the 3 STV sequels, but I'm not looking forward to them. The original is a good horror movie that is unfairly misjudged. This sequel is a piece of crap that is all over the place and has no idea what it wants to be. Save your time and see the original instead. 2.8/10

"Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2" is nothing but so bad it's good. Most of Eric Freeman's acting is done with his eyebrows. This begs the question, "How can someone overact using their eyebrows?" Believe me when I say it can be done. It's easy to get through "Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2" if you just fast forward through all the scenes from the first film. You're left with about 45 minutes of wonderfully bad dialogue and a few madcap slayings you'll never forget. Just don't mistakenly skip through any of the parts in the room where the psychiatrist and Ricky are talking. There are some funny exchanges between the two of them you won't want to miss.
