10 out of 10...THATS RIGHT-- a big fat 10! First off just to get it out of the way I'm gonna say that some of the acting could've been better. Say, the fight scenes and so on... nothing major. Now thats just about the only thing i figured could've been better in this freaking horror masterpiece. What we are looking at here in the female version of American Psycho's Patrick Bateman on STEROIDS! She is literally walking around killing everything she can get her hands on with true class! We see subtlety, deception, we simply see America Olivo being as freaking awesome as she could possibly be! Thought bitch slap was great?... watch this!! Olivo plays this very interesting character that simply enjoys inflicting pain on whatever living thing that comes in her way--- or whatever living thing that she herself puts in her way for that matter... She tortures, murders, and laughs her way through all the way through. If you liked a type of super evil individual similar to the Great Pat Bateman, then you will without a doubt love this movie! A lot of other people have criticized this film for being a bad horror and so on etc... As always I encourage you...the reader to WATCH THIS FOR YOURSELF. I'm not saying this is like a super story or anything like that which most people are apparently obsessed with nowadays. No, this is simply just a Girl...The Girl that goes about her day to day activities and they just happen to be inflicting excruciating pain upon everybody... Now doesn't that just sound like a perfect horror/slasher movie to you???... Aside from the superb content which is super great for a horror and psychological thriller movie fan like myself, Olivo's great performance in this will without a doubt make you laugh due to all the... well... craziness that takes place. Not in a bad way though, in more in a : Oh my god this horror movie is freaking awesome because is has all we want to see type of way. Again, see the film for yourself. If you are a fan of horror-- the psychological kind, you'll love this!
There are some bad movies that at least entertain , this heap of dung is not one of them! I gave this a 2 star rating, 1 of which is for the leading lady who is easy on the eyes . The storyline is incoherent and the acting is abysmal. I didn't like a single character in this film , unless you think Hostel is the greatest movie ever, stay away from this. I love brutality but this torture porn movie is so bad, it tortured me! Normally, when annoying characters get tortured or killed I enjoy it , in this film they manage to be more annoying! Other than the hotness of the leading actress , and a little gore I found Neighbor had nothing to offer.
I saw this movie for the actress America Olivo, because I had noticed her as a bit player in the boring "Friday the 13th" remake and thought she was pretty hot and interesting looking. I wanted to see more of her, so when this movie became available and I saw that she was the main character I picked it up. I have now seen more than my share of her.I liked her vibe in this movie. She is a crazy slasher who acts ditzy and quirky and cute and pleasant while she butchers everyone she meets. This movie lifts a lot from Funny Games, including the quirky nature of the killer, their tendency to get to people in their homes for long, drawn out tortures where no one will see or interrupt them, and the gimmick of showing the victims turn the tables on the killers and get away, only to have that turn out to be a dream sequence of sorts. She's cute and fun, unfortunately she also butchers everyone she meets, so you can't bring her home to meet your momFun trivia: I noticed while I was writing this that her profile on IMDb also comes up on IMDb as America Campbell, so I guess she married the main character who she tortured all throughout this film. Man, if they ever get divorced I hope he doesn't re-watch this, or he will just get more ticked off.
A woman starts torturing people. People get tortured but don't seem to be in a lot of pain. This essentially describes this awful movie. This is what movies have come to. You don't need a story anymore. Just gore. You don't even need acting. As long as there's blood and guts, you've got a movie. Oddly, the gore is done pretty well. Sadly, the actors having the torture done to them are so amateurish, it takes away from the good effects. At no point do you believe anyone is feeling any pain because the people having the pain infected cannot act.The lady portraying the woman doing all the torturing is not too bad with the material she's given and definitely not bad on the eyes (the only reason I kept watching) but at no point do we ever find out why she's doing all this torturing. It's hard to believe there was any script but then timelines start changing so I guess they were working with something; maybe an outline or stuff written on index cards. I can't believe the dialog they were reciting was written down, they had to be making it up as they went along. After a so much torture you want a story. Any story. Alas, there was no story here.On the plus side the movie was well lit and as I said, the effects were actually not bad. I think whatever money that was spent on this went to the effects guy. I doubt any of the actors were paid anything because I've seen better acting on youtube. My rating stars: zero out of *****
