Barfi! is a beautiful film and will take viewers on a certain roller-coaster of emotion: it's a story of true love, yet with bittersweet heartrending moments, interspersed with almost ridiculously simple gags that nevertheless don't ever quite feel too out of place, so plenty of genuine laugh-out-loud moments. The three lead actors are fantastic, Ranbir Kapoor in the title role, playing a deaf- mute, gets you right onside from the start, and the beautiful Ileana D'Cruz proves she is more than just eye candy, as she authentically expresses every emotion perfectly. Priyanka Chopra has you truly believe in her autistic character Jhilmil, yet plays her so well that despite her spoken dialog being little more than Barfi's, the viewer is never in doubt as to what she's thinking. The film is wonderfully directed too; the viewer feels the mood, and gets the sense of scene without intruding. Barfi! (both movie and character) starts off a bit "Charlie Chaplin" - undoubtedly deliberately - but the pace changes to suit the act. The soundtrack is yet another element that was selected and executed perfectly; with some lighthearted inclusion of the three-piece band frequently popping up in the picture. In all, a charming film and though I probably have neglected Bollywood romcoms in the past, I won't be likely to overlook them in the future! I'm just so glad I took a gamble and watched it.
One of the movies that can make you smile all time during it and after watching it. Automatically you will find yourself smile along with tears. you will watch it daily and each time you can feel the same.Ranbir made a rule which i think no one can repeat it with same feelings.Ileana . you will find yourself concentrating in her eyes and smile. For me some times i see the movie again and again to watch the acting of her eyes. The director made his best. he concentrated on those tiny things which can attract your heart. This movie along with Black are best Indian movies I ever saw.
probably one of my favourite movies of all time. its such a shame it was not considered for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars. it was obvious that the Chaplin scenes and moves were added intentionally. the whole movie was totally not like any other Bollywood movie at all. love the French essence in it, especially the music. also, the movie captured the beauty of Darjeeling perfectly. i've never been to India but this movie has made Darjeeling as a place that i definitely have to go before i die!as for the story, it is fresh and i really like how they build suspense by putting present time and flashbacks together. their love story broke my heart. thats all i have to say lol . all in all, a very very very good movie.
OKAY,this is enough!!!It's a shitty copy of many foreign films(the notebook and other Hungarian movies).Ask me if there is any scenes of its own!! A BIG SCAR ON Indian CINEMA!!!THEY COPY EVERYTHING FROM TOP TO BOTTOM!! the simple reason why Indian movies are trash is-- NO CREATIVITY. yes, we stick to only one major genre--TYPICAL BOLLYWOOD ROMANCE. guys come on!! get some story of your own!!We produce more annual films than others but still lack the true nature. we have become hopeless here. The only reason why bollywood has got some name of it's own is-Few actors going west!!!STUPID Indian DIRECTORS AND PRODUCERS!!! They make themselves look like DUPLICATES!!! And same goes for the idiots audience who praise them for their stupidity and ask for Oscars NOMINATIONS!!!! go get a life Indian cinema!! The only creative Indian cinema all rounder we have is- FARHAN AKHTAR and ZOYA!!Their creation is out of reach of Indian mindswhat India loves is flying cars and stupid actors and actress dancing in gutters with shitty actions. With a mere budget of 10 million we expect some blasting performances. that is not possible. Budget is not an issue here. What CRAP Indian DIRECTORS LACK IS-- "creation"!! They stick to the basic need of Indian audience--Boom Boom!!what is next in bollywood --remake of INCEPTION???
