During the Republican run of the 2008 Presidential election, candidate John McCain picks a relative unknown, Alaskan governor Sarah Palin, to be his running mate. As the campaign kicks into high gear, her lack of experience, in both political and media savvy, becomes a drain upon McCain and his strategists.

I have a mind of my own, at least I want to think so, but, I was influenced enough to give Game Change a miss. I was told this was a hatchet job - I must admit that the comments came from Republicans mostly - I finally saw Game Change last night, It literally blew my mind. Hatchet job? What are you talking about? I felt for her, the film humanizes her and somehow explains without partisan hysteria, how we got there, that in a way is to explain how we got here in 2017. Julianne Moore is superb, superb! Not a single false note or cheap shot. I also felt for John McCain, the American hero who told us that Sarah Palin was ready to to be President. The torment in John McCain through Ed Harris's eyes is more eloquent that any line of dialogue. As is Nicolle Wallace, played brilliantly by Sarah Paulson. Her torment is also so real you can touch it. A special mention should go to Woody Harrelson, es Steve Schmidt, extraordinary. Writers, directors and everybody involved deserve oodles of praise. They told us a piece of recent American history about a woman who thought her Vice Presidency was "God's plan"
Great examination of the 2008 US presidential race, with Sarah Palin as the focal point. Very interesting, no matter which side of politics you support (and I am certainly not a Sarah Palin supporter). While it could easily have degenerated into a parody of Palin (which would be very easy to do - you could easily fill 90 minutes with her gaffes and naivety. SNL probably did!). Instead it sensitively details the Republican campaign, Palin's part in it and the human side to it. You actually feel sorry for Palin as her ignorance is revealed, and delight in her rare victories. Also very interesting to see the US political machine in action.Great performances from Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin, Ed Harris as John McCain and Woody Harrelson (especially) as Steve Schmidt, McCain's strategist.
I knew right then that the Republicans would loose. All Palin had to do was open her mouth...and out came -- nothing. She had no qualifications and hadn't a clue how the world ran. Watching this movie brought back all that Palin stubborn idiocy and I found myself laughing at her. I really felt sorry for Steve (played by Woody Haroldson). His apology to McCain for suggesting Palin was rather touching. Fox News recently realized just how empty-headed Palin is and got rid of her. Some of that delight -- to a lesser degree -- returned when Romney picked Paul Ryan as his running mate. Once again, I knew the Democrats had it in the bag.
This film made me feel bad for Palin. It made me start rooting for her, up until she started going rogue by doing things the way she wanted to do them. I really liked this film. It showed what went on during the campaign, with the McCain team getting frustrated with Palin, and Palin getting frustrated at the McCain team. The film also showed actual news footage covering the 2008 presidential election.Julianne Moore was a perfect choice to portray Sarah Palin! Her resemblance of Palin was near- perfect! The writing was great, too! If a movie can make me root for the bad guy, Sarah Palin, then the writer has done one heck of a job! It's scary to think that this was real life, to an extent, four years ago!
