If something has the cinema is that conveys emotion. Except in this movie. Jim Jarmusch has forgotten that part. The film can not be colder. In addition to being excessively long lasting what remains hard footage.Spoiler:To my taste, Bill Murray makes one of his worst interpretations, but surely not because of him. Surely Jim has asked. It is one thing to have to interpret an empty man, but it is that the empty men have feelings, they will be of pity, of rage, of sadness, but of something. The actresses are very well that if it is true, but they do not get to raise the film because the rhythm is so tedious, so slow, there are no road maps that count nothing. It looked like he was watching a three and a half movie with a good video camera. What a bad picture. What a bad direction. At least as it is current, costumes, hairdressing and art is not difficult. But it is that plane to plane, sequence to sequence, is boring. The sequence of the meal with the real estate developer, is tedious. I imagine he wanted to provoke laughter, to me, at least, it has bored me a lot. Why does the naked girl come out? What do you want to tell? Even if the mother were as she was, if that is what she meant, should the daughter be the same?To me personally, the films with such open ends, leave me more than cold and in this one if it was already cold, it has not left me frozen, because that would have been provoking me a feeling, although it has caused me one, thank you, it is finished.
I haven't yet been able to pin down the exact location of all of the ex- girlfriends, but there are two clues that lead me to believe that the real estate agent (second visit) sent the letter. In the very beginning of the movie, the camera follows the route of the letter through the post office sorting machine, and briefly stops at a point where you can see other letters in the sorting box which come from and are addressed to people in New Jersey )you'll have to use the pause button and examine the frame carefully to see this). The real estate agent in the second visit, according to her pink business card, works in Richmond Lake, New Jersey. Has anyone determined whether any of the other ex-girlfriends also live in New Jersey?
Broken Flowers (2005): Dir: Jim Jarmusch / Cast: Bill Murray, Jeffrey Wright, Sharon Stone, Jessica Lange, Tilda Swinton: Dark comedy about broken relationships or regret. Bill Murray plays a computer salesman who receives an unsigned letter stating that he has a son who is on a road trip to see him. His neighbour gathers all information on four potential women whom are possible mothers thus sending Murray on an odyssey. His encounters are sometimes amusing, sometimes tragic, but always surprising. Director Jim Jarmusch uses a lot of fade shots to indicate mood as Murray progresses through his travels. Murray delivers a superb performance that ranks among his best as he is met with very different responses from the four women but ultimately it is the encounter with his son that lands the biggest regret. This easily rivals the performance he gave in Lost in Translation, proving that he can be equally effective in dramas. Jeffrey Wright is hilarious as his neighbour who found the women and remains in contact as the voice of reason when all is done. Among the women are Sharon Stone and Jessica Lange whose responses are both at opposite extremes. Tilda Swinton in particular lives with bikers and her response to him is less than forgiving. Well crafted film with extreme dark tones in its presentation. Theme addresses decisions that are met with consequences and brokenness. Score: 9 / 10
The Plot. As the extremely withdrawn Don Johnston is dumped by his latest woman, he receives an anonymous letter from a former lover informing him that he has a son who may be looking for him. A freelance sleuth neighbor moves Don to embark on a cross-country search for his old flames in search of answers. What's with the good reviews? This movie is not only pointless, it's an insult to anyone's intelligence. The story is dumb and everyone acts as if they are stoned and have no emotion. The writing is horrible.Bill Murray is supposed to be a former internet hot shot but he cake walks through this role like he's asleep. One of the few times i can say i was bored silly by his performance.I bet he agreed to this trash just so he could bang all the women in it.
