I really like Diane Kruger, but Monica Bellucci in the original is terrific. It's certainly not a coincidence that the name of the restaurant in Wicker Park where Josh Hartnett overhears Diane Kruger's conversation is named Bellucci's!! That's real respect. The french version is full of comedy, this American remake has next to none. It's worth getting a copy of "Le Apartment" if you enjoy this.

This film is a very good adaption of the French film L Appartement. Actually the Hollywood version is an improvement of the original. In Wicker Park the main characters as played by Josh Hartnett, Diane Krueger, Rose Byrne and Matthew Lillard are likable despite their double life or shortcomings which they might be harbouring. One actually cares about the characters and the intriguing story which is told partially in flashback, unlike the French film where the characters all seemed to be Jerks. The way the film progresses, reflects the disjointed mind of the main protagonists as some sort of misfortune seems to keep the two main lovers apart whilst a second romance continuously fails to materialize. This film and the original French one apparently are a loose adaption of the Shakespeare comedy a Midsummer's Night dream. The French film is certainly not a comedy but this one is imbued with a certain lightheartedness despite the proceedings, that makes it very palpable. A recommended watch, characters continue to live on after the film ends

I'm not a big fan of drama / romances but I saw that it was also a mystery movie so I gave it a shot. And I'm really glad I did because Wicker Park is above good. In the beginning it was slow and I was wondering if the story was going anywhere. You constantly wonder what's going on between Matt (played by Josh Hartnett) and Lisa (played by Diane Kruger). They clearly like each other, and so far there is no mystery. It's when you add Alex (played by Rose Byrne) and Luke (played by Matthew Lillard) that it's getting interesting. You have to concentrate from the beginning to understand everything but it certainly is worth it. I didn't see it coming, so you could say the second part of the movie was a surprise, and it was a good one. Good actors, and an even better story makes Wicker Park a most enjoyable movie. One of the better movies I saw lately.

First time I watched this movie, I slept off. I couldn't understand what was going on. It was too boring. But some days later, on a very lousy day, I had nothing to do. Then I thought I'd give this movie another try. It was still the same. I didn't understand what was going on in the first 1 hour or so. Then the mystery started unfolding one by one. Some shots in the first half were shown again, but this time from a different angle which reveals quite a few things. Then some flash backs. All of these will make you seated on your chair till the end. And a special mention of the climax scene. It is gonna give you goose bumps for sure.So my advise. You may feel bored or sleepy in the first 1 hour. But all you need is a little bit of patience. Wait for the second half to reveal things out. Then you will realize the purpose of those boring scenes in the first half.
