The synopsis for this movie almost put me off as it seemed a little dull but I am so glad I decided to give it a go.The basic premise is a guy looking for his love after developing "The Panic", a form of agoraphobia so severe it causes instant death. There is a little bit of buddy action thrown in as he goes on his travels. Please don't let that put you off, I am not into romantic films or buddy movies and I loved this. Well acted, beautifully shot, this one draws you in from the start and has you rooting for the main character until the end. There is not a huge amount of dialogue so even if you are not a fan of subtitles, it didn't detract from my enjoyment. There is a little action in it but it is mostly about how people deal with an apocalyptic event in a completely human way.If you like your films with loads of action, gore and special effects then this probably isn't for you but if you don't mind something a bit slower like The Road for example, then you'll like this one.
A world wide deadly plague of......agoraphobia? Pulleeze! Yes, many of us are tired of the same old zombie apocalypse, but agoraphobia? Seriously?Yes, seriously. But what horrors does this leave us with? Not showering. Not shaving. Body odor. Excessive facial hair. Primitive living conditions. Food and fuel shortages. WOW! TERRIFYING!Sorry, but this just doesn't sound all that bad to me. It's way better than mindless hordes of the infected, who feel neither pain nor fear, all trying to eat your face off 24/7/365!The good acting and production value of this film are all wasted on a plot that lacks any compelling motivation. "OH NO! I'm trapped indoors but need to find my pregnant girl friend, but someone stole my GPS!"How do you say "Bummer!" in Spanish?(YAWN!)
reminiscent of films along the lines of i am legend and 28 days later, this is the story of our population forced to survive something as simple as going outside. this was a wonderful comment on how reliant we've become on technology and how we're taking our earth for granted and mistreating it. it gave a glimpse into a society that has been brought back to it's roots. it was a beautiful film that showed how well people can band together, but how they often times fight as well, even in the face of danger. the film was well acted also. the two male leads gave a wonderful performance. Quim Gutierrez gave an amazing performance as Marc. the settings, despite a majority of them being inside, were gorgeous.
... but is it? You have to watch the movie to see if and what the title ultimately means. One thing is for sure, this is played more than well. I know some people had issues with the ending, but it's always tough to end a movie that is as rough as this. No matter what way the director takes, it'll be scrutinized. But until then, it's pure survival and the actors really make the most of it. The viewer will find himself thinking: What would I do? But that only works at the beginning. To make this hold up longer there is a journey, our main character has a goal. If you're not with him, you might not enjoy the ride as much. Teaming him up with another character who obviously has other values and goals is genius. Science Fiction Fantasy with Doom flavor ... Tasty for me ...
