Kevin McCallister's parents have split up. Now living with his mom, he decides to spend Christmas with his dad at the mansion of his father's rich girlfriend, Natalie. Meanwhile robber Marv Merchants, one of the villains from the first two movies, partners up with a new criminal named Vera to hit Natalie's mansion. So Home Alone 4? They actually made a 4th one without Macaulay Culkin as Kevin but let's review it and remember like i said in my summary this is a guilty pleasure the film is indeed pretty dumb and i know that and that is why i enjoyed it and let me start with the stuff i did liked which is the relationship between Kevin and his dad and also his mum this is kinda something that we see that is invested more in this sequel mostly with his dad tho because in Home Alone 1 & 2 he was closer to his mum, Erick Avari was also pretty good i enjoyed his performance and his scenes with Mike Weinberg who played Kevin he was a pretty cute kid at the time and i believe that was the purpose to put him play this role but as far as everything else goes the film does fall apart because i didn't like French Stewart as Marv he looked more like Harry to me and he was pretty over the top and he wasn't really that funny the same goes for Missi Pyle as Vera she was basically portraying some black stereotype woman she wasn't really that good. Jason Beghe and Clare Carey as Peter and Kate McCallister were good nothing more i would have enjoyed this film more if it was the 3rd one with Culkin and the original cast back it shows us characters with basically zero development that we don't care, the McCallisters broke up for some unknown reason and the gags feel recycled but besides all that i did enjoyed the film it was stupid, it should have never been made but i still liked it some of the actors were good, i laughed a couple of times and the dramatic scenes were kinda well played and i'm gonna give Home Alone 4 an 6.1 out of 10 it's a "great" Christmas Guilty Pleasure. The first time i saw it it was back in 2002 or 2004 i can't remember it was on VHS at that time and i enjoyed it more back then but now it doesn't live up to Nostalgia and it's really not a great film but it's watchable for what it is i still count the first 2 films only and they should have stopped there..
Mockery of Home alone 1 and 2. They put the same characters of Home alone 1 and 2 into this one, but they hired different actors. The Kevin from Home alone 1 and 2 had yellow hair, but the new Kevin has brown hair and is shorter than the Kevin from 1 and 2. Plus, this Kevin is still 9 after Home alone 2! The acting was horrible. The idiotic thieve from the first two, Marv, is no longer with Harry. He's with some Lady, but the thing is, Marv is now smart even though he was dumb in the first two. Home alone 3 was alright, but this movie makes Home alone 3 look like the best movie ever. This takes place at Kevin's Dad's new girlfriends house, and the booby traps are lame. If you want to see how bad this movie is, don't buy or rent it, watch you-tube to see how bad it is instead of wasting your money. I wasted 1 dollar to rent this movie, so don't do the same.I give this a 0.5 out of 10
What can I say about this film? It sucks cock! If it were like Home Alone 3 or 5 with a different kid and different family, that would've upped it by one star, but here they claim to have the characters from the 1st and 2nd films! That's no problem but the big problem is that all of them have different actors and none of them look the same! Only Kevin's father LOOKS the same, but doesn't SOUND the same. Another bad part is also that Kevin's mom lives in a different household than in the 1st and 2nd. It's also confusing how this film even fits into the Home Alone timeline. So if this film is considered a sequel to the 2nd film, which takes place in 1990 or 1991 and Kevin is 10 years old, this film Kevin is 9 years old and there are so many objects not belonging to a time like 1992. Kevin's acting is very ridiculous too. Whenever I watch this, I keep forgetting that I'm watching a Home Alone movie. When I picture a clip from the first two films with Macaulay Kulkin as Kevin, then this film feels even worse to watch. And Finally, the idea of Kevin's father dating a rich girlfriend and the wet bandits only being Marv and his wife, and giving Marv Harry's clothes, this film must be a nightmare, as Robert Englund says. The visuals in this film aren't very appealing and the music is pretty bad, though sometimes it uses what I like to call "Bad movie music" which I actually get amused by.But make the right choice! Do not watch this!
I was never a huge fan of the first "Home Alone" movie, and for that matter the second and third entries. But each of them was like a Broadway play compared to this fourth entry. This entry is a bad high school play in comparison. It goes wrong in just about every way you can think of. Being made for television, it looks really cheap and undernourished, save for the part of the movie involving a cascade of water (they must have blown most of the budget on that scene alone.) The people that are cast in the roles of Kevin and his family (as well as Marv) have none of the spark of the original actors. But the worst thing about the movie is how dull it is. There is very little of the character of Kevin taking charge, acting smart, and inflicting mischief. It's mostly boring talk. I think even kids will find this sequel a shabby excuse, and I can only imagine what their smarter and experienced parents will think of it.
