Jamie returns to his hometown in search of answers to his wife's murder, which occurred after receiving a weird package containing a ventriloquist dummy named Billy, which may be linked to the legend of ventriloquist Mary Shaw. Destined to find out the truth, Jamie goes to the town of Raven's Fair, where Shaw used to perform and is buried. But Jamie is in for more than he expected.

A young widower returns to his hometown to search for answers to his wife's murder, which may be linked to the ghost of a murdered ventriloquist. Dead Silence has it's fair share of flaws for sure and it's far from being one of Director's James Wan's but it also has some thrilling things to say about it such as a very creepy vibe including dolls and a creepy old lady plus the acting was pretty decent as well. The twist although very clever and disturbing i did expected a bit more as well plus the cinematography was very good with the pale colors. (7/10)
Director James Wan is known for his passion for Horror movies. So it is not a surprise at all, that Dead Silence turns out to be a very enjoyable Movie about puppets coming to life. Instead of going the direction towards Child's Play this movie sides more with Puppet Horror such as Annabelle, but before you already turn it down just by hearing the title reference, you can relax. Dead Silence succeeds where Annabelle has failed in my opinion, simply because James Wan is getting his effects done right. I am not really sure if I like Ryan Kwanten in the leading role, but this may only be me. The acting was good and I was really happy to see Bob Gunton in the role of Jamies' father. It's been a long time since I have seen the villain of the glorious The Shawshank Redemption and even though he of course has aged I noticed him right from the spot. If dolls are creeping you out, this movie will do just fine to add some chills to your spine. Enjoy!
I don't get why this isn't rated higher. I haven't been this creeped out and disturbed by a movie since the original Halloween. I think James Wan needs to get more props for his movies. I thought it was extremely well done and Wan also somehow added a little bit of the old "creepy haunted house" within the movie with, in a way, a touch of the old Frankenstein movies feel to it with the Gothic-like dark and misty scenes that he wove into it. This is a must see movie. The best horror movie I've seen in a long, long time.
Dead Silence is a horror film directed by James Wan, so you automatically know it's going to be good. James Wan just does great work, simple as that, and dead silence is no exception. This movie did not receive good reviews from film critics and I can't figure out why. This had everything anyone would ever look for in a quality horror movie. First of all, it actually pretty good acting, which is actually something that isn't terribly common in this kind of movie. I especially like Amber Velleta in her role, very fine performance on her part. The script suffices, it may not be the best script for a horror movie you've ever seen, but it's not bad. Not at all. It has plenty of scary scenes that involve a strong creepy factor. The dolls were the main contributing factor that created the creepy feel throughout the film. Even the very first opening sequence features a very scary event that occurs to someone the lead knows. I suggest this horror film for anyone and everyone who enjoys this kind of movie. No it's not on a paranormal activity or insidious level, but it's pretty entertaining and scary. 8/10.
