Leslie Nielsen returns as Frank Debrin in this slapstick police comedy. The plot, if you care, goes that President Bush (John Roarke) has been consulting a world famous environmental scientist named Dr. Albert S. Meinheimer (Richard Griffiths), who has been given a carte blance to dictate the environment policy for the United States. Naturally this doesn't sit well with all those oil, coal and nuclear big shots, one of which just happens to be dating Debrin's old flame, Jane (Priscilla Presley). Not an awful setup, but unfortunately the execution leaves almost all to be desired. The comedy style of Nielsen has always leaned heavily towards slapstick and no exception here. Furthermore, they're heavily going for the kitchen sink approach. The scenes are almost overflowing with visual gags and very few opportunities for a random quip are missed in the dialogue. Unfortunately it makes the film feel bloated. I've seen this kind of kitchen sink approach work in a comic, but in those you can stop and take as much time as you need to appreciate all the little things hidden in the background. Here it simply makes you feel frustrated when the scene changes and you realize you missed what was happening on the foreground. The film is also rather heavily sexualized, and while that is a credible source of comedy, it just doesn't jive when the one making all the racy jokes is a white-haired sexagenarian lusting after a woman decades younger than him.The Naked Gun 2 makes for a passable background noise if you simply have to have the TV on. Then again, so does the fireplace screen saver.

Lots of hits and misses on this one. Mostly misses. This sequel is less funny than I remembered. Some of the gags are way too long. The parody of "Ghost" is so dated now - it's simply a mistake to build an entire scene on something contemporary (like most of the lowest-of-the-lowest-parodies do).One thing that makes AIRPLANE so much better is that they don't put all the jokes and punchlines "in your face". There are ton of jokes that happen in the background and you can easily miss them if you don't pay attention (and haven't seen the movie a hundred times before). With THE NAKED GUN, all the jokes and punchlines are made very obvious, which loses a lot of its strength IMO.Priscilla Presley is pretty bad in her role.

The second installment of The naked Trilogy is an excellent sequel, I love what David Zucker with the sequel did. This was actually the first film in the trilogy that I have saw as a kid, but when I was a kid it was my favorite film. I have never saw the first or the third film before, but that was when I was a kid. I love the first Naked Gun to death is one of my favorite films in the trilogy, I like this film a lot and is honestly my third favorite film, I like watching it over and over. I like the gags, the jokes, the slapstick humor and a little action in the film. The Naked Gun 2 1/2: The Smell of Fear is the 1991 sequel to The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! and is the second installment in the trilogy. The late Leslie Nielsen returns as the clueless Lt. Frank Drebin. The film would be followed by 1994's The Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult.R.I.P. Leslie Nielsen (1926 - 2010) one of the best comedy actors in Hollywood ever made. In November 2010, Nielsen was admitted to a Fort Lauderdale, Florida, hospital with pneumonia. On 28 November, Doug Nielsen, Nielsen's nephew, told the CJOB radio station that 84-year-old Nielsen had died in his sleep from pneumonia around 5:30 pm EST surrounded by family and friends. Leslie you were the man in this movies I really miss you, you know how to make movies like this. I really enjoy watching you in The Naked Gun trilogy. I am not a fan of Airplane movies, but I really love you in The Naked Gun trilogy's.Plot: Lt. Frank Drebbin (Leslie Nielsen) returns to save the day once again. This time he's out to foil the "big boys" in the energy business. A top scientist (Dr Mainheimer) is about to publish his report on energy supply for the future. Things don't look good for the traditional suppliers; oil, coal and nuclear. To save their industries, the suppliers kidnap Mainheimer and replace him with a decoy with a more favorable report. Jane, the Dr's secretary, is Drebbin's old flame; they're passionate love affair is thus rekindled. The Smell of Fear was always my favorite film because it was the first one I saw before I watch the first naked gun. I love that the cast did return in the sequel and where a lot of funny. O.J. Simpson returns as Nordberg and this time he has more screen time than he had in the first one. I love the opening scene in the White House, the scene with lobster was so funny Leslie is awesome my favorite scene will always be the tank scene he he. Who Police squad fires bunch of bullets with their machine guns on the house in which Hector Savage (Anthony James) is hiding ha ha. Frank drives the tank in the house, he destroys whole house, he drives the tank right in the zoo and he cut lose half of animals and when he opens the door you can see monkey siting on a tank and you see Franks face reaction ha ha. Nordberg attaching parts of the weapon was awesome and than he create Browning M1919 machine gun. I also love that Frank with Jane deactivates the bomb on the end of the film.I still like the music song from Ira Newborn in the opening scene and with the car serene was awesome and it is my favorite movie theme ever. The film for me has a few problems that I didn't like that Is why I prefer The Final Insult over this more.Priscilla Presley has brown hairs now and not blonde like she had in the first one.Jane Spencer is now Frank's Ex girlfriend now and all she does is wining about Frank which in my opinion hurts the film.I hate sex scene in the film between Frank and Jane I hate it. I hate the romance and the sad parts over Frank with Jane in this film. The sex scene was so horrible made, that I had to skipped forward.Frank choosing Jane over his big promotion for Jane was a bad idea on the end of the film.I hated Priscilla Presley's character in the film I am sorry I did, I thought she was very annoying. Those were things that bothered me I am giving this film an 8 out of 10 it is a good sequel but can't hold a candle to the original film. The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear is a 1991 comedy film. It is the sequel to the 1988 film The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! and the second installment in The Naked Gun film series. The film stars Leslie Nielsen as the comically bumbling Police Lt. Frank Drebin of Police Squad!. Priscilla Presley plays the role of Jane, with O.J. Simpson as Nordberg and George Kennedy as police captain Ed Hocken. The film also features Robert Goulet (who previously made a "special guest star" appearance on Police Squad!) as the villainous Quentin Hapsburg and Richard Griffiths as renewable fuel advocate Dr. Albert S. Meinheimer (as well as his evil double, Earl Hacker). Zsa Zsa Gabor, Mel Tormé and members of the Chicago Bears have cameo roles.8/10 Grade: B+ Studio: Paramount Pictures Starring: Leslie Nielsen, Priscilla Presley, George Kennedy, O.J. When a bomb goes off at the offices of Dr Mainheimer, the energy expert who has just been given the task of devising the United States energy policy it isn't long before Det. Lt. Frank Drebin of the Police Squad is in the case. Matters are complicated somewhat when Frank meets his ex-wife again; she is now working for Dr Mainheimer and dating Quentin Hapsburg, the man determined to prevent Mainheimer giving a speech critical of vested interests in the energy business; oil, coal and nuclear. The bombing may have failed to kill the doctor but Hapsburg has a second plan; he has the doctor kidnapped and has an impostor take his place. If Frank is to prevent an ecological disaster he will have to reconcile things with his wife and expose Hapsburg's dastardly scheme. That may describe the plot but it gives no hint of what the film is really about… to make the viewer laugh… a lot!! For the most part the gags are fairly silly but that doesn't stop them being hilarious and if you don't find a joke amusing another one will be along in a few seconds; it would take a heart of stone not to laugh at all during this film. The jokes vary from slapstick to innuendo to having Drebin try to prove a man's real birthmark is a fake by attacking his bare backside with an electric sander! Leslie Nielsen does a fine job as Lt. Drebin and he is ably supported by Priscilla Presley as his ex-wife Priscilla Presley and George Kennedy as his boss Capt. Hocken. There are a few gags that some parents might not want their children watching but nothing too offensive; there is a sex scene but it is entirely comic and nothing 'naughty' is shown. If you enjoyed the 'Airplane' films I'm sure you will like this too! If you haven't seen the first 'Naked Gun' film you can still enjoy this but if you get the chance watch all three!
