The Words follows young writer Rory Jansen who finally achieves long sought after literary success after publishing the next great American novel. There's only one catch - he didn't write it. As the past comes back to haunt him and his literary star continues to rise, Jansen is forced to confront the steep price that must be paid for stealing another man's work, and for placing ambition and success above life's most fundamental three words.

Cheesy. Lukewarm acting. Amateur script. Painful to watch and not even sure why we wasted the time to finish it. Metacritic score and reviews were spot on.
I put off watching this because of all the terrible reviews out there but I actually really enjoyed it. The Words is a layered romantic drama. A story-within-a-story-within-a-story is the best way I can describe it and its cleverly done, following Bradley Cooper as a struggling writer who finds an old manuscript in a bag and before he knows what he's doing writes the entire thing up on his computer and then passes it off as his own. 'Rory' rockets to fame, credited with writing the next great American novel but experiences a crisis of conscience after meeting the man whose work he stole, in fact life, as we flashback to the real author as a young man and discover his heartbreaking autobiography. Meanwhile a greasy Dennis Quaid has written a book about a famous author stealing another man's work. I think everyone will get something different from this, its layered, engaging and filled with good preformances. A surprise hit for me, I thought about for days afterwards.
What can I say that has not been said before me about this gem of a Film, There have been bad reviews about lack of depth, meaning and complexity. In these days of mindless violence, sex and car chases this Film is a breath of fresh air. It is beautiful as simple as that and leaves lots to the imagination that is real film making, like they done in the '30s, '40s and '50s when sex was not in your face and violence was a war Film with not much violence The ones that don't like this movie would be better of watching mindless garbage that is Mad Max Fury Rd and the like. This Film is a gem because it goes against current treads of no story line mindless sex and computer graphics being the 'star' of the show.
Be forewarned! There were SO many F-bombs in this movie that I actually wondered if I mistook the PG-13 rating for R. After the first bout of five or six in a couple of seconds, I thought well at least they used up all their bad word count, but they must have upped the limit recently because the vulgar assault continued (completely unnecessarily) throughout the whole film. The movie wasn't bad, but it was no work of genius. So, if stuff like that bothers you like it does me, I would say skip this one. Though the story has potential, the ending leaves so many questions unanswered that the only thing you will be left with is blankety-blank $!!@*! beep beep echoing through your brain. And it's really not worth it, trust me.
