The first one was a really good one to watch, and it was a good thing a sequel was made, and this one wasn't that bad either. I still wouldn't say this was as good as the original, but that's just a personal preference. Both the Ace Ventura movies are very different from each other, and that's what I like about these movies. I like the plot of this movie: It doesn't try to be as same as the original, and that's why I think this sequel had some success. But I still think the plot of the first Ace Ventura movie was far more interesting. The first one was something that looked a bit serious, but the second one had humour to it. I think Ace Ventura When Nature Calls is the more funnier of the two movies. Personally, I think the plot for this movie could've been far more better than it already was, and that's why I think many didn't like this one. Ace Ventura When Nature Calls looks underappreciated - that's the impression I get.
I must have watched this movie 100 times growing up with my brothers, the whole movie is really hilarious, its more of a kids kind of funny but its still really good that I watched it a few times as an adult also, the story was good, it was entertaining and makes you laugh the whole way, especially the beginning when he first arrives in Africa lol
After Pet Detective there was yet ANOTHER Jim Carrey installment of Ace Ventura and boy was this even more hilarious. Here Jim Carrey's charcther is send to Africa alongside a British explorer to find the missing bat.The opening scenes of Ace Ventura sees him climbing a mountain and meeting Hindu men and his raccoon falls to his death as the harness gets loose.Of course there is more slapstick humor throughout including a scene where Ace is inside a robotic rhino and he has to take off his clothes as the machine got broken down and the only way to get out of the robotic rhino was the get out of his backside, leaving the visitors of the outback of Africa to assume that the so called Rhino was having a baby. That was hilarious. Of course Ace Ventura has to solve the mystery as to where the bat is and who is the culprit again. Overall its not as funny as the first one and Jim Carrey is still Jim Carrey with his whacky over the top image that he had in the 1990s before he got serious with his films. But still if you are a fan of the first film and a fan of Jim Carrey, this isn't a bad film to see on TV or if you get it on DVD. Check it out and see what you think.5.5/10Out of 5 stars 2 and a half out of 5.
This inevitable sequel finds Jim Carrey reprises his role as the title character Ace Ventura, a detective who specializes in retrieval of tame or captive animals in Ace Ventura:When Nature Calls. Ian McNeice,Simon Callow,Maynard Eziashi,Bob Gunton,Sophie Okonedo and Tommy Davidson play key supporting roles. His latest case, the disappearance of a rare African white bat, draws him out of his spiritual retreat at a Tibetan monastery following the tragic outcome of his previous case.Ace Ventura is on assignment in Africa to prevent a tribal war by saving a white bat sacred to both sides. Along the way, he nearly sleeps with a seductive African princess before her wedding, experiences astral projection with an enlightened monkey, masturbates, collects bat dung and, last but not least, is birthed by a mechanical rhino. Often short on taste, the film is nonetheless full of good spirit and plenty of genuine belly laughs particularly during the fight scene with a diminutive tribal champion. Not for every taste, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls is either hilarious or insufferable, depending on the viewer's opinion of Carrey's unique brand of slapstick and sight gags. If you're ready to laugh like a pack of hyenas, if you want more fun than an industrial-sized barrel of monkeys, you know what to do.Watch this film for that reason and also for guilty pleasure.
