This movie is terrible. You have 2 terrible Australian actors as the leads and some French chef as an extra. Why does Australia continually put out rubbish films that make the rest of the world think we are a bunch of idiots?! I don't get why, can you shed light on it? The main dude isn't funny or a good actor but here "down under" we scrape the bottom of the barrel. Magda isn't funny either, but for some reason here she is, another actor who isn't funny is that rebel Wilson. She sucks. People have to stop getting jobs because they fill that stereotype. I don't even need to say what I'm talking about. John Goodman was like that too but he's a dynamite actor. Seriously, go watch the big lebowski instead of this and then watch it again straight after. I would rate this no stars if I could. Worst bit is I am sure we all have a relative who would like this.
Dazza has a passion for barbequing. He accidentally gives his neighbours food poisoning. To make amends he seeks tutelage from the tyrannical Scottish chef and together they enter an international barbecue competition. If you want to waste 1hr and 27mins of your life alongside alot of advertising and food after food and some pretty bland protagonists that you somehow have to cheer for 'The BBQ' is the film for you but if not? Don't waste your time and just go and see something else anything really that is actually funny and not cheesy. (0/10)
I watched the BBQ today and thought that it was a very funny movie , along with the Castle.
WARNING do not watch this movie on a empty stomach as it features a lot and i mean a lot of mouth watering BBQ food. This was a great Aussie family movie, with some cheap laughs, some great education on Captain Cook history, how Wagyu beef is prepared and how to cook a bloody good steak, Shane Jacobson plays the typical Dad role well- and with such an Aussie name (Dazza), he works at the local barbecue galore and is asked to represent the company at the big Aussie BBQ cook off while his wife (who wears the same dress everyday) works at the local IGA. If there was ever an Aussie movie to send overseas to promote us in a good way this would be it. Seeing Manu Feildel (dazzas rival) just gets my excited for the up coming series of MKR. So Manu the score im giving you for your movie is......a 5!
