This is probably the worst movie I have ever seen. I spent 3 dollars to buy it which should have been a hint and was so bad I wanted my money back even with the little bit I bad spent on it. Basically they go into the jungle and the two couples get in an argument so they split up. One of the couples gets killed not very far into the movie after running into a tribe of cannibals. Then the second couple is rafting down the river and run into the tribe and get away from them. When they get further down the river meet up with another bunch of cannibals and end up at what they think is a celebration or party then when they think their gonna dance or something they get hit in the head and killed then the movie ends. There you go that's the whole movie

American beauties Mandi and Colby and their party-animal friends, Mikey and Australian Bijou, head out to remote New Guinea in search of Michael Rockefeller who went missing in 1961, presumed dead. Sightings of a bearded old white man travelling with natives deep in uncharted territories have the intrepid foursome fired up, so off they go with little more than the most rudimentary understanding of the trouble they could get into.Much has been made of the similarities between this and Cannibal Holocaust or Blair Witch. I've seen Cannibal Holocaust and agree that there are similarities, not least one particular grizzly scene. But I don't necessarily agree that this renders the entire movie contemptible. What Cannibal Holocaust lacked (slick production values, a watchable cast and character development) Welcome to the Jungle provides. Other than the fact that this is a 'lost tape' genre, wherein the entire film plays out through the lens of a hand-held video camera, is the only thing that marks it out as comparable to Blair Witch. The lost tape genre is still a trope rather than a cliché and there are countless other examples that play more accurately to the original format (ie. hauntings, paranormal etc).Welcome to the Jungle scared me a lot more than Cannibal Holocaust, which, frankly, I just found disgusting. I'm not a hardcore fan of gore or shockers made for the sake of shocking, but felt I needed to watch CH simply because of the infamy of the film, the pride I take in knowing the horror genre inside out and being able to post knowledgeable reviews. I also watched Human Centipedes 1 and 2 for the same reason, but that's another story! There were a few issues. The end was confusing and a little too sudden. And there were several instances of 'horror movie victim mentality' wherein the cast behaved not as rational and terrified human beings in a perilous situation but as horror movie protagonists walking obligingly to their doom just so we can watch it happen. Otherwise, this was an enjoyable and nerve rattling ride. The juxtaposition of serious and dedicated Mandi/Colby vs hedonist joy-riders Bijou/Mikey was particularly horrifying to watch. I found myself firmly in the shoes of Colby, which was not a nice experience.Generally a more mainstream and viewer-friendly attempt at the cannibal horror and a brave mix of sub-genres.

Two young couples holidaying in Papua New Guinea, come up with a plan to find missing heir Michael Rockerfeller, the son of the US vice president who mysteriously went missing there in 1960. Rockerfeller is naturally presumed dead, perhaps eaten by cannibals, but the foursome argue that finding him would be worth at least a million dollars to the press or his family, if they found him alive. A sighting by local pilot of a white man in his 70's deep in the jungle, convinces them their plan has some foundation. They hire a minibus and head off deep into the jungle, where they are shot at by would be hijackers and have their lives threatened by some unscrupulous border guards. Finally in the mountainous region they want to be, they continue despite a serious falling out between the two couples, one couple is serious about their investigation the other is there for some fun, fun that sees them defile a native burial ground by stealing a skull from it. Will the natives understand? Very cheaply made, this is a throw back to the cannibal films of the 70's and 80's, Hensleigh seems like an enthusiastic filmmaker and does a decent job in mimicking films like Cannibal Holocaust. I say mimicking, but what I really mean is plagiarism of Deodato's classic. There are some scenes that as soon as you see them you will recognize their influence straight away, right down to the iconic girl on a atake scene. Still though the gore when it does come isn't half bad, but it does take an age to get there and considering this is a very short film, that doesn't leave a whole lot of time for the cannibals. The acting isn't too bad either considering they're mostly amateurs. The film on the whole is beautifully filmed in stunning locations and is also devoid of animal killings which will please the pc brigade, I didn't miss them funnily enough, I just wish there was more cannibal time. All in all not a bad effort for a modern attempt at a bygone sub genre.

I think it was actually quite a good film. I think it's all too easy for people to think, "This is crap - it's like Cannibal Hollocause without the gore" because it never said it was going to be like that. The entire film is filmed on two video cameras (like that of 'Blair Witch'. If you start watching the film not knowing this, you think, "Oh, it's going to be crap," but actually, if you give it a chance, it's actually quite good. Granted, you don't see any of the gore (except for the odd foot or dismembered limb!) as it's all off screen, but the film is quite realistic. The video camera obviously wouldn't see everything because when you're being dragged off to be decapitated, you would usually take the camera with you?! So basically, two couples decide to find out where Michael Rockerfellar disappeared to in the 60's. They fall out - one couple nick a raft and go their own way. They find natives are following them, armed with bows and arrows. They get hit with arrows and are taken off to be tonight's dinner. Next couple follow en route with a raft they've made and find the remains of their friend. They hear the screaming of their other (obviously alive) friend and foolish, follow it. They escape narrowly, just in reach of the sea but are seen by another native. They surrender and are sat down to dinner but then realise everyone's suddenly disappeared. Yup, they're tonight's dinner! 7/10 is my verdict :)
